Laboratory Chemist Winthrop University, Rock Hill, SC Winthrop University is seeking a full-time Laboratory Chemist in the Department of Chemistry, Physics, and Geology, beginning August 2026. The Laboratory Chemist provides essential set-up and support for teaching and research laboratories; procures and organizes chemicals and supplies; trains and supervises student lab assistants; and performs duties outlined in the departments Chemical Hygiene and Safety Plan, collaborating with faculty and staff in a team-oriented environment. Qualifications: A bachelors degree in chemistry is required. Two years of chemistry work experience is desired, preferably in a laboratory environment. The equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered. The successful applicant will demonstrate exceptional interpersonal skills and strong personal ethics for mentoring of students and working in a team environment; mastery of fundamental concepts of General and Organic Chemistry; good planning and organizational skills related to laboratory set-up and purchasing; and the ability to work independently. The ability to lift up to 25 pounds is also required, as is kneeling, bending, and placing objects on shelves.
