POSITION TITLE / LOCATION Sewing Line Machine Operator / Valway Plant JOB CLASSIFICATION Machine Operator POSITION REPORTS TO: Department Manager/Production Supervisor POSITION OVERVIEW The Sewing Line Machine Operator is solely responsible for operation of the sewing line. Associate operates the Sewing line maintaining Safety, Quality and Productivity goals and 5s targets for the area. Associate is measured by Safety goals, Quality Goals, Productivity goals and 5s conditions within the Cable Management area. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Follow all plant safety and LOTO procedures Maintain work area keeping clean and organized according to 5s Standards Monitor machine for quality issues including stitching defects. Keep machinery running by splicing cakes, pull tape, thread etc. in an expedient manner Perform troubleshooting of stops to aid technicians with stop causes Monitor chemical application to product Perform checklists as required to ensure proper startups and product quality Operate the HMI (computer) screen to set the required parameters Creel empty reel into machine Thread Machine properly (Cakes, Pull tape, Rope, Thread) Perform minor mechanical functions such as needle changes and style changes Reverse machine as required. Perform Production, Quality, safety documentation as required Dispose of waste as required. Stage all required, reels, pull tape and other supplies as needed adhering to 5s standards Operate online Printer and ensure printing quality standards Assist in style changes on other machines and perform QC checks as required Perform all paperwork required including proper documentation of work time and downtime Identify all proper materials required using the required documentation Certify to train new associate candidates as required Participate as leader in plant activities (i.e. OFI, MQSP, M.O.C.) Understand the environmental impacts and aspects of job-related activities. Follow established Valway and Milliken & Company guidelines concerning use of all chemicals. Comply with all Environmental regulations and Milliken Environmental Policies and Rules. Perform any other duties assigned by Production Manager or Senior Production Manager as necessary. Standing: Ability to stand while working 90% of day Sitting: Ability to sit down while operating mobile equipment 10% of day Moving: Ability to move throughout plant: 40% of day Lifting: Ability tolift upto75lbs. 5% of day Ascending/Descending:Ability to walk upstairs 5% of day Push/Pull/Reach: Ability to push/pull fabric rolls and carts (approx 1500lbs) 10% of day Bending: Ability to pick up objects from the floor, creel rolls, style changes 50% of day Visual Acuity: Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including reading information from printed sources and computer screens. 100% of day 9. Cognitive: Alert. Able to make decisions, reason, and understand information. 100% of day WORK ENVIRONMENT/SAFETY-SENSITIVE POSITION This job operates in a manufacturing facility. This position is a safety-sensitive position and regularly works around moving mechanical parts and powered industrial vehicles. Noise level is generally loud. Temperatures can be more than 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Humidity level can be more than 98% for 100% of day. SHIFT/WORK HOURS Shift schedule will depend on open positions at time of hire and will be communicated with new hire paperwork.
