JOB SUMMARY The SVP, Director of Deposit Product Management & Governance is an executive leadership role responsible for first-line accountability for the governance, correctness, and lifecycle management of BankUnited's deposit products including the underlying customer and account data that supports them. This role ensures that deposit products and associated Customer Information File (CIF) data are designed, structured, documented, implemented, and maintained in alignment with regulatory requirements, risk standards, and enterprise objectives. Operating in support of the Lines of Business, this role establishes and enforces consistent standards across the deposit product lifecycle and CIF data governance, improving data integrity, transparency, scalability, and control effectiveness across the Bank's deposit portfolio. This role operates within the Bank's New, Modified, or Expanded Products and Services (NMEPS) Policy and Program, ensuring all deposit product initiatives adhere to established governance, risk assessment, and approval processes. It does not replace the NMEPS framework but ensures consistent execution and lifecycle management within it. This role does not determine which products Lines of Business offer, nor does it own pricing, P&L, or customer acquisition strategies, and it does not replace Technology, Risk, Compliance, or Legal. Instead, it provides first-line executive accountability to ensure deposit products are governed and managed consistently across the enterprise.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Enterprise Deposit Product Governance:
- Owns and enforces enterprise standards for the end-to-end deposit product lifecycle, from ideation through ongoing management and decommissioning.
- Maintains a centralized inventory of deposit products, ensuring consistent definitions, documentation, and control structures across all Lines of Business.
- Ensures alignment of deposit products with regulatory requirements, risk standards, and operational capabilities.
- Rationalizes and standardizes product offerings to improve scalability, efficiency, and customer experience.
- Partners with Lines of Business to support product strategy execution while maintaining governance and consistency.
- Product Lifecycle Management & NMEPS Alignment:
- Ensures all new, modified, or expanded deposit products are governed in accordance with the Bank's NMEPS Policy and Program.
- Partners with Lines of Business as the first-line owner for deposit product initiatives, ensuring complete documentation, risk identification, and control design.
- Coordinates across stakeholders to support required approvals, implementation readiness, and post-launch monitoring.
- Establish consistent standards for product setup, change management, and lifecycle controls across platforms and teams.
- Executive Governance & Cross-Functional Leadership:
- Serves as the first-line executive accountable for deposit product governance across Lines of Business and support functions.
- Establishes clear ownership, decision rights, and escalation paths across Product, Operations, Technology, Risk, Compliance, and Legal.
- Delivers executive-level reporting and insights on product performance, risks, and initiatives to senior leadership and governance forums.
- Supports enterprise initiatives related to product transformation, remediation, and platform modernization.
- Ensures alignment with enterprise governance frameworks, including issue management, change governance, and control standardization practices, to drive consistency across Lines of Business and support functions.
- Platform & Vendor Oversight:
- Provides business ownership and governance for deposit platforms and supporting systems.
- Establishes oversight of key vendor relationships, including performance, risk management, and operational readiness.
- Ensures product configurations, integrations, and platform capabilities align with defined product standards and control requirements.
- Product Controls, Analytics & Performance:
- Establishes and maintains control standards for product setup, changes, and ongoing management.
- Ensures all deposit products have clearly defined eligibility, disclosures, procedures, and control documentation.
- Defines and monitor key performance and risk indicators for product performance, funding impact, and customer experience.
- Uses data and analytics to support product optimization, segmentation, and lifecycle decision-making.
- Customer Information File (CIF):
- Owns enterprise governance, standards, and oversight for Customer Information File (CIF) data as it relates to deposit products.
- Establishes and enforces data integrity, structure, and maintenance standards to ensure accuracy, consistency, and usability of customer and account records across platforms.
- Leads ongoing CIF rationalization and clean-up efforts, including remediation of duplicate, incomplete, or inconsistent records.
- Partners with Operations, Technology, and Risk to define ownership, controls, and processes for CIF creation, maintenance, and updates.
- Ensures CIF data supports regulatory requirements, client identification standards, segmentation, reporting, and product lifecycle management.
- Regulatory, Risk & Issue Management Governance & Data Management:
- Provides first-line accountability for ensuring deposit products meet applicable regulatory and fiduciary requirements.
- Serves as executive owner for deposit-related audits, regulatory exams, and remediation efforts.
- Ensures timely identification, escalation, and resolution of product-related issues and control gaps.
- Partners with Risk, Compliance, Legal, and Audit to maintain a strong and sustainable control environment.
- Adheres to and complies with applicable, federal and state laws, regulations and guidance, including those related to anti-money laundering (i.e. Bank Secrecy Act, US PATRIOT Act, etc.).
- Adheres to Bank policies and procedures and completes required training.
- Identifies and reports suspicious activity.
QUALIFICATIONS Education
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- Master's Degree preferred.
Experience
- 15+ years of leadership experience in deposit products, banking, or financial services.
- Strong experience with deposit products, governance frameworks, and regulatory requirements.
