University Correctional Healthcare (
UCHC) is seeking a Pharmacy Technician for the Central Regional Office, located in Trenton, NJ. Under the direction of the Clinical Pharmacy Manager and Director of Pharmacy, performs a variety of technical functions for the correctional unit dose drug distribution system. Responsible for reviewing physician orders and prescriptions, maintaining confidential reports, entering and retrieving data utilizing the computer system, responding to requests for drug information, medication refill and 340b drug pricing program processing, and delivering medication to the appropriate units as necessary.
Duties include:
- Accurately profiles medication orders into the pharmacy information system.
- Ensures that outpatient prescriptions are accurately entered into the pharmacy information system.
- Ensures that medications are delivered to the proper nursing units, ancillary departments.
- Ensures that medications dispensed are correct drug/strength, dosage form/quality.
- Prepares controlled substance requests from nursing units for verification by the Registered Pharmacist.
- Documents additions/deletions of controlled substance medications in the appropriate section of the controlled substance record with appropriate signatures.
- Correctly totals and documents the running balance of controlled substance medications upon addition or deletion of controlled substance medications to/from nursing unit stock.
- Logs the controlled substances returned from nursing units into the proper pharmacy records and returns to stock or places with DEA returns.
- Prepares requests and restocks nursing units with floor stock medications and supplies.
- Fills floor stock and internal requisitions with the correct medication/strength/dosage form.
- Ensures that quantities do not exceed established par levels.
- Delivers floor stock and internal requisitions to nursing units on the same shift they are received.
- 4. Reorders pharmacy supplies from approved vendor.

- High School Graduate or equivalent.
- At least one (1) year of pharmacy experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
- Must be a Registered Pharmacy Technician with the New Jersey State Board of Pharmacy. Demonstrated ability to communicate with patients with behavioral issues.
- Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
