Summary:

The Senior Project Manager provides strategic leadership and direction for the successful delivery of power projects, supporting clients across generation, transmission, distribution, and substation infrastructure. This role ensures alignment with Worley's policies, client expectations, and contractual commitments while driving project performance across safety, quality, schedule, and cost.

Managing all phases of project execution-from early concept and planning through all phases of engineering and project delivery-the Senior Project Manager ensures technical excellence, strong stakeholder engagement, and financial success. This individual plays a critical role in strengthening Worley's Power Delivery (PD) capability by delivering high-impact solutions that support behind the meter generation expansion, grid modernization, reliability, and the global energy transition.

Purpose:

To lead complex and high-impact projects that support client and business objectives across the power and utilities sector. The Senior Project Manager oversees varying scales of projects and key workstreams within large, complex programs-ensuring alignment with strategic goals, technical standards, regulatory requirements, and stakeholder expectations. This role also contributes to business growth through proposal development and strategic pursuits.

Responsibilities:

Project Leadership

  • Define and manage project scope, objectives, schedule, productivity, and budget.
  • Lead execution of power projects (generation, transmission lines, substations, distribution systems, grid modernization initiatives).
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams to deliver efficient and high-quality outcomes.
  • Collaborate across different regional Worley offices to deliver strategic power projects.
  • Cross sector integration for clean and decarbonization projects related to power generation.

Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)

  • Champion a strong safety culture across all project activities.
  • Lead by example in applying Safety by Design, Constructability, and Maintainability principles.
  • Ensure compliance with Worley and client HSE standards and regulatory requirements.

Technical & Quality Oversight

  • Provide technical leadership across engineering, procurement, and project delivery functions.
  • Ensure deliverables meet technical, regulatory, and client quality requirements.
  • Promote innovation and continuous improvement in project execution and delivery practices.

Financial Management

  • Develop and manage project budgets, forecasts, and cost controls.
  • Monitor performance, track financial metrics, and report progress and variances.
  • Support estimating, benchmark metric development, proposal development, and business case reviews.

Execution Planning & Performance

  • Develop and implement the Project Execution Plan (PEP).
  • Monitor project milestones, KPIs, and deliverables to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Identify and implement corrective or recovery actions as required.
  • Adopt and implement cost effective project delivery tools and processes.

Customer & Stakeholder Management

  • Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with clients and stakeholders.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for communications, progress updates, and issue resolution.
  • Ensure customer objectives and performance expectations are achieved.

Risk & Opportunity Management

  • Identify, assess, and manage project risks throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Maintain risk registers and implement mitigation and contingency strategies.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance value, improve delivery, and strengthen client outcomes.

What you will bring
Technical/Industry Experience and Qualifications Requirements:

  • Minimum 15 years of experience in the power, utilities, or energy infrastructure sector, including at least 12 years in project management, technical leadership, or supervisory roles.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering transmission, distribution, substation, or grid modernization projects.
  • Experience across project phases including concept, feasibility, design, and execution.
  • Strong understanding of relevant codes, standards, and regulatory frameworks within the power sector.
  • Experience in engineering, procurement (EP) or EPC environments and working with global teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).

Additional Information:

  • This role is in California. But flexibility to support Worley strategic power sector growth may require working closely with Reading, PA office.
  • Salary Hourly Range $183,872-$270,400
  • Benefits: eligible for PTO, 401k, medical, vision, dental, etc.

Education - Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:

Required:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.

Preferred:

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent (P.Eng, CPEng).
  • Project management certification (PMI, APM, IPMA, or equivalent).
  • Experience supporting energy transition initiatives such as renewables integration, grid resilience, or decarbonization projects.
  • Experience working with utilities, independent power producers (IPPs), or regulatory agencies.
  • Fluency in Spanish is considered an asset.
