Position Summary

The Senior Principal Mechanical Designer provides technical leadership and advanced mechanical design expertise for EPC projects from concept through detailed design, construction, and commissioning. This role leads mechanical design activities, mentors design teams, and ensures deliverables meet project requirements, client specifications, applicable codes, and Worley quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical design activities on complex EPC projects.
  • Develop and review equipment layouts, general arrangement drawings, and 3D models.
  • Coordinate with engineering disciplines, clients, vendors, and construction teams.
  • Review and approve mechanical design deliverables for quality, accuracy, and constructability.
  • Support procurement, construction, commissioning, and field engineering activities.
  • Mentor and guide designers while promoting best practices and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, client requirements, and safety expectations.
  • Assist with project planning, scheduling, resource coordination, and technical issue resolution.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or technical diploma in Mechanical Design or related discipline (Bachelor's degree preferred).
  • 15+ years of mechanical design experience, including significant EPC project experience.
  • Proven leadership on large industrial or energy projects.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, AVEVA E3D, Smart 3D (S3D), Plant 3D, and Navisworks.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical equipment layout, plant design, constructability, and industry codes (ASME, API, ANSI).
  • Experience working with multidisciplinary engineering and design teams.
