QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must have the ability to demonstrate a working knowledge of basic electrical theory and practice. Must pass the EEI CAST Test. Must be capable of calculating various electrical loads as applies to KWH consumption. Must be able to read and comprehend routine information and wiring diagrams. Must be capable of courteous communications with the public. Other general qualifications such as physical fitness, attendance, punctuality, safety and performance records will be considered.

Additional consideration will be given for the following job-related experience or training:

1. Experience or training in the area of metering, and measurement of power consumption;

2. Experience or training related to the installation of services and metering equipment;

3. Experience or training in the testing or repair of self-contained meters as well as other types of metering devices;

4. Any other qualifications contributing to the applicant's ability to perform the job.

PRIMARY DUTIES: Work related to electrical measurements including installation, testing, calibrating, inspecting, repairing, and cleaning of all types of electrical measurement devices, and auxiliary equipment used and useful in the Company operations.

Performs duties such as:

1. Requisitioning, preparing for service, inspecting, recording data and issuing for installation, kilowatt-hour meters, reactive meters, auxiliary metering equipment, meter mounting devices, small parts and portable instruments;

2. Inspecting, cleaning, repairing, adjusting and calibrating in the meter shop and/or on customer premises, all classes of kilowatt-hour meters, reactive meters and auxiliary metering devices;

3. Periodically inspecting for proper operation and maintenance, all kilowatt-hour meters and auxiliary equipment connected in service;

4. Investigating all customer complaints relating to problems involved in the operation and accuracy of metering equipment installed on customer premises;

5. Periodically replacing, for sample testing, residential type meters in conformance with current IURC regulations;

6. Replacing on a fixed schedule, all billing related devices and securing all readings used in connection with these billings;

7. Maintaining all reactive meter billing devices, demand pulse devices and associated auxiliary equipment installed and in service on customer premises;

8. Installing all transformer rated meters and auxiliary equipment, making operational tests of all such installations including preparing record and wiring check sheet;

9. Investigating and documenting energy theft; make corrections as needed to protect Company revenue; and

10. Coordinating activities with other employees of the Company for maximum safety and economy; helping teach, instruct and train other employees in the applied skills of the job.

In addition to the primary duties listed above, the employee may be called upon to perform other work as circumstances require. Must know and comply with all Company safety and health policies and procedures applicable to work performance.
