What you'll be doing...

You will work closely with functional HR teams and IT to design, strategize, and manage high-impact technology projects for internal customers. As a key player in our digital HR transformation, you will act as a strategic advisor, leveraging your deep Workday configuration expertise to unlock new efficiencies and elevate the employee experience.

A major focus of this role will be driving the adoption of emerging, cutting-edge AI technologies within our HR tech ecosystem. You will spearhead initiatives that modernize our processes, taking us into the future of HR technology.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Technology Roadmapping: Partner with HR leaders and cross-functional stakeholders to align HRIS capabilities with overarching business goals, providing strategic recommendations on system enhancements and future AI adoptions.

  • Advanced Workday Configuration & AI Integration: Lead complex Workday configurations with a specialized focus on implementing and optimizing Workday's latest AI and machine learning features (e.g., Agentic AI, conversational agents, predictive analytics, and smart hubs).

  • Cross-Functional Project Management: Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of strategic HRIS projects, collaborating seamlessly with IT, Talent Acquisition, Compensation, and other HR centers of excellence to deliver innovative solutions for internal customers.

  • AI Technology Evaluation: Continuously research and evaluate cutting-edge AI vendors and tools in the HR space (such as automated candidate slate ranking, AI interview guides, and predictive skills mapping) and configure Workday to integrate seamlessly with these platforms.

  • Process Transformation: Apply forward-thinking, strategic analysis to identify bottlenecks in current HR workflows, utilizing Workday's automation and AI capabilities to drive capacity, reduce manual intervention, and improve data integrity.

  • Change Management & Digital Adoption: Act as an advocate for digital-first mindsets, ensuring that new Workday configurations and AI enhancements are adopted smoothly by leaders and employees across the enterprise.

This role can sit out of any valid Verizon location.

What we're looking for...

You are a strategic thinker who can look beyond the immediate request to understand the broader impact on the HR ecosystem and employee experience. You have deep functional and technical knowledge of Workday configuration, particularly around new releases and AI-driven modules, strong project management skills with the ability to bridge the gap between technical IT teams and functional HR stakeholders, a passion for emerging technology, GenAI, and exploring how machine learning can transform human resources.

You'll need to have:
  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.

  • Four or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through work experience and/or military experience.

  • Proven experience architecting and optimizing the Workday Recruiting module. This includes designing business processes, entry/validation rules, application and posting templates, career sites, candidate pipelines, and automated routing/notification frameworks to streamline the talent acquisition lifecycle.

  • Strong background in Project Management, with a deep understanding of core Human Resources processes, compliance policies, systems integration, and data governance.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:
  • Experience translating complex business needs into robust system requirements, alongside a track record of building comprehensive testing plans and validation scenarios.

  • Demonstrated ability to independently diagnose and resolve complex technical issues with minimal guidance, acting as a trusted subject matter expert.

  • Deep understanding of advanced Workday functionalities, including job profiles, evergreen/confidential requisitions, and Workday Docs for automated offer and agreement generation.

  • Workday Pro Certifications.

  • Experience operating within Agile methodologies, including driving Sprint planning and facilitating scrum ceremonies to ensure continuous delivery.

  • Outstanding relationship-building skills with a history of partnering with cross-functional stakeholders to deliver high-impact, results-oriented solutions.

  • Experience leveraging enterprise ticket tracking systems (preferably JIRA) to manage backlogs and workflow visibility.

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
