Overview:

The Senior Institutional Financial Products Consultant plays a pivotal role in advancing the strategy, growth, and development of Institutional Financial Products (IFP) within our Institutional Retirement Solutions (IRS) market segment. This role identifies emerging market opportunities, evaluates new product and business concepts, and helps guide the ongoing evolution of the IFP business while remaining adaptable to changing IRS priorities.

This is a unique opportunity to influence the future of Securian's Institutional Financial Products portfolio. In this highly visible role, you'll partner with senior leaders and cross-functional stakeholders to evaluate growth opportunities, shape product direction, and lead initiatives from concept through implementation. You'll play a key role in bringing innovative solutions to market and helping the business respond to evolving customer and industry needs.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

Business Development

  • Lead the identification, evaluation, and development of new product and service opportunities that drive business growth and strengthen IRS's market position.

  • Provide ongoing leadership to move prioritized initiatives from strategy through readiness and execution, coordinating cross-functional work across marketing and distribution, actuarial, finance, legal, operations, technology, and external partners.

  • Champion the evaluation of new product and growth opportunities by developing compelling business cases grounded in market insights, financial analysis, and strategic impact.

  • Lead contract drafting process for new products as needed, partnering with Actuarial and Law to review and finalize contracts.

  • Support partner and vendor evaluation, support contract negotiations and the establishment of agreements with selected vendors and business partners.

  • Guide new product and business solutions to ensure they advance IRS data infrastructure and usage, partnering with ET and internal business partners to align data governance, maintenance processes, and technology capabilities with business development priorities.

Strategy Consulting / Technology Advisor

  • Provide support, leadership, and facilitation in the development of business strategies that define target markets, products, and services differentiators.

  • Help define required capabilities, operating processes, and governance needed to support new opportunities.

  • Define, develop, implement, maintain, and improve processes to ensure alignment with operational best practices and policies to support business strategy and goals.

  • Serve as a trusted advisor by translating market intelligence, industry trends, and stakeholder insights into actionable business strategies.

  • Partner directly with senior leaders to evaluate opportunities, assess tradeoffs, and shape strategic decisions that influence the future of the business.

  • Provide leadership that fosters a commitment to excellence, customer focus, teamwork, creativity, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of retirement, institutional financial products, stable value, or related financial products, including product design, market positioning, distribution strategies, and the development and implementation processes required to bring new solutions to market.

  • Demonstrated leadership and communication skills to build relationships and communicate with broad audiences with competing needs, different motivational drivers and varying goals.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage conflict, persuade and negotiate complex issues.

  • Strong creativity in problem solving and the ability to collaborate in the development of strategies to generate new sales opportunities and/or enhance existing business and processes.

  • Excellent planning and organizational skills to prioritize projects based on relevance and strategic impact within the broader organization. Ability to effectively direct appropriate resources to support a broad portfolio of requests.

  • Initiative, self-management skills and orientation for results.

  • Recognized ability to operate effectively with ambiguity, including situations where no previous groundwork is established.

The estimated base pay range for this job is:

$111,300.00 - $207,800.00

Pay may vary depending on job-related factors and individual experience, skills, knowledge, etc. More information on base pay and incentive pay (if applicable) can be discussed with a member of the Securian Financial Talent Acquisition team.
