ROLE SUMMARY:
The Sr. Director- Strategic Alliances is a senior member of the Diagnostics Business Unit leadership team responsible for shaping, developing, managing, and advancing enterprise-level strategic partnerships that support business growth, market expansion, portfolio priorities, and long-range strategic objectives. Reporting directly to the General Manager, Diagnostics Business Unit, this role will lead alliance strategy, partner engagement, opportunity assessment, governance, executive stakeholder alignment, and cross-functional execution to support growth and profitability objectives.
The Sr. Director- Strategic Alliances will serve as the primary senior strategic partner to the General Manager for identifying, evaluating, negotiating, and advancing external partnership opportunities. This individual will work cross-functionally with Commercial, Marketing, Product Management, Medical Affairs, Market Access, Finance, Legal, Corporate Strategy, senior leadership, and external partners to develop a comprehensive alliance strategy and ensure partnerships are structured, launched, governed, and optimized effectively.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Set and lead the strategic alliance agenda for the Diagnostics Business Unit, ensuring partnership priorities support growth objectives, market expansion, portfolio strategy, and long-range business plans.
  • Identify, evaluate, and prioritize high-value strategic partners, including healthcare organizations, diagnostic companies, biopharma companies, technology providers, research institutions, and commercial collaborators.
  • Lead senior-level opportunity assessments, partner landscape reviews, strategic fit analyses, diligence efforts, and business case development for potential collaborations.
  • Partner closely with Corporate Strategy, Finance, Legal, Commercial, Product Management, Medical Affairs, Market Access, and senior leadership to evaluate alliance opportunities and advance recommendations.
  • Lead partnership discussions, diligence activities, deal preparation, governance planning, executive alignment, and internal decision-making for strategic collaborations.
  • Establish and oversee alliance governance frameworks, operating rhythms, success metrics, issue-resolution processes, and executive reporting for active partnerships.
  • Serve as a senior relationship owner for strategic partners, ensuring strong executive communication, accountability, alignment, and value creation against shared objectives.
  • Monitor partnership performance, identify risks and opportunities, and lead corrective actions to improve alliance value creation and business outcomes.
  • Develop executive-level briefing materials, partnership updates, business cases, governance materials, and decision-support materials for leadership and board-level reviews.
  • Influence annual and long-range planning by providing partnership pipeline insights, alliance priorities, investment considerations, and growth opportunities.
  • Track market, technology, customer, reimbursement, and competitive trends that may create partnership opportunities or impact alliance strategy.
  • Champion a disciplined, collaborative, and data-informed approach to alliance development, partner management, governance, and cross-functional execution.


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree required in Business, Life Sciences, Healthcare Administration, Marketing, Finance, Strategy, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 12-15 years of progressive experience in strategic alliances, business development, corporate strategy, partnerships, commercial strategy, consulting, or related functions within healthcare, diagnostics, biotechnology, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, or life sciences.
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex strategic partnerships, executive stakeholder alignment, opportunity evaluation, diligence, governance, and cross-functional business initiatives.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • MBA, Master's degree, or other relevant advanced degree strongly preferred.
  • Significant experience in business development, alliance management, corporate development, licensing, strategic partnerships, or management consulting is highly desirable.
  • Experience preparing and presenting executive presentations, board materials, strategic reviews, partnership governance updates, and leadership communications.
  • Deep knowledge of diagnostics, biopharma partnerships, healthcare market dynamics, reimbursement, market access considerations, and commercialization models preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess partnership value, strategic fit, commercial potential, operational requirements, financial implications, and enterprise-level tradeoffs.
  • Experience using CRM, pipeline tracking, business intelligence, market research, or project management tools to support alliance strategy and governance.

  • Ability to drive alignment and execution across multiple functions, senior leaders, and partner organizations without direct authority.
