Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Production Supervisor, the Materials Handler is responsible for storage and issuance of raw materials and finished parts, ensuring the stable flow of materials in the Stockroom, Assembly Departments and Fabrication. The Materials Handler works in compliance with instructions and prescribed routines, methods or procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Operator will perform material handling procedures in a safe and effective manner operating motorized forklifts throughout factory to move materials from staged / receiving areas to storage or point-of-use locations as needed
  • Includes the unloading of delivery trucks (common carriers / box trucks), flat beds or other delivery trucks
  • Handling sheet metal, organizing materials in designated staging or storage locations and racks
  • Unloading / dumping scrap hoppers as needed throughout the factory
  • Organizing and cleaning of outside storage locations as needed to keep a clean and orderly facility
  • Operator will perform inventory control as it relates to the position
  • Operator will assist / load equipment as needed to ship finished goods to customer
  • Maintain and submit accurate production paperwork (as it relates to the position)
  • Complete quality assurance inspection and in-process paperwork
  • Maintain the equipment and facility as directed by immediate supervisor following prescribed safety procedures and processes. Notify supervisor, cell leader or other appropriate resource when problems arise concerning equipment, operations, materials, inventory, or documentation
  • Perform or assist with any operations throughout the factory, as required to maintain workflow and to meet schedules and quality requirements
  • Maintain work areas in a clean and orderly condition. Consistently operate in keeping with all safety rules and requirements
  • Participate in any variety of meetings and work groups to assist with training new employees, integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems, and maintain specified level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, requirements, and policies
  • Perform special projects, assignments, and other duties as needed in order to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Previous forklift operator's experience is preferred
  • Blueprint and schematic reading
  • Use of measuring devices and good mechanical aptitude
  • Use of hand and power tools, assembly fixtures, and crane devices such as vacuum lifters, cranes and forklifts
