UCF COM Population Health Sciences Laboratory: The Department of Population Health Sciences brings together full-time tenured and tenure-track faculty, as well as additional faculty with secondary appointments, committed to conducting research on the individual, social, structural, and community factors that create health problems in the population and to design and implement interventions to promote health. Faculty research interests include all aspects of population health including adolescent health, cancer detection and outcomes, cardiovascular health, child and infant health, community-based participatory research, global health, health communication and messaging, health services research, HIV care and prevention, infection prevention and control, mental health, obesity, sexually transmitted diseases, substance use and cessation, including alcohol and tobacco use, suicidality, and violence among many others. Faculty expertise areas include anthropology, behavioral science, biostatistics, epidemiology, health communication, health education, implementation science, maternal and child health, public health law, and qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methodologies. Our newly established laboratory led by Dr. Connor Martz in the Department of Population Health Science at the UCF College of Medicine examines how structural factors and social contexts influence health and aging trajectories across the life course, with a focus on the social and biological pathways that shape disparities in population health. Active projects draw on large, nationally representative longitudinal cohorts and secondary data sources to examine neighborhood- and school-level exposures in childhood and adolescence and their consequences for health in adulthood, including chronic disease risk, cognitive aging, and respiratory outcomes. The Opportunity: The Quantitative Research Analyst supports a growing research lab in the UCF College of Medicine focused on how social and structural factors shape health and aging outcomes across the life course. This role is responsible for managing and analyzing complex, longitudinal datasets; applying advanced statistical methods; and contributing to scientific manuscripts and grant proposals. The Analyst collaborates closely with the principal investigator and research team to integrate multilevel data sources and address population health and health disparities research questions. The position offers opportunities for authorship, mentorship, and the development of independent research.
