Position Overview:

The O2 Sponsor Finance Relationship Manager is primarily responsible for generating quality new business relationships for O2 Sponsor Finance per set annual funding goals.

This role is also responsible for preparing, reviewing and analyzing prospect and customer financial information and underwriting sponsor finance LBO's, recapitalizations & refinance opportunities. This individual is responsible for working with PM's and Associates in modeling financial data, assigning and defending risk ratings, reviewing and analyzing quality of earnings reports, field exams, participating in preparation and resolution of exception reports, and complying with company and regulatory lending guidelines.

The incumbent is responsible for performing at the highest levels of productivity, for independently and efficiently analyzing the most complex and involved credits, and for resolving problems independently. This person will also be tasked with training and educating others on the team on cash flow lending. Being a good teacher is a key component of this job.

Essential Job Functions



  • Calls on PE sponsors and others to drive pipeline and new business opportunities. Primary responsibility is to bring in quality new business relationships and attain or surpass funding and fee goals.
  • Visiting and calling on their specific sponsor relationships is a crucial part of their responsibilities.
  • Reviews models and analyzes financial information in collaboration with sponsor finance relationship managers (RM's) and Associates and O2 Sponsor Finance loan and collateral operations. When necessary, is also able to work independently to complete most assignments.
  • Provides leadership (and reviews) in underwriting and analyzing funded private equity firms, independent sponsors, wealthy family offices, and mezzanine providers.
  • Efficiently and accurately analyzes and assigns loan ratings to existing and prospective credits. Reviews and analyzes and presents additional commentary during monthly O2 Sponsor Finance portfolio reviews and overall portfolio reporting. Reviews and analyzes base case and downside 5-year borrower projections.
  • Reviews and works with Associates to ensure clearance of all monthly exception reports of all types.
  • Serves as department resources regarding bank policies and external regulatory requirements as they pertain to lending.
  • Proactively partners with O2 Sponsor Finance RM's and Associates to go on joint prospect/customer calls to further develop their credit and sales skills and/or serves in a leadership role to help develop and educate less experienced PM's and Associates. Job includes travel typically once ever other week.
  • Partner with O2 Sponsor Finance PM's and Associates to discuss and review complex credits and make financial and covenant recommendations as appropriate.
  • Collaborates with PM's and Associates on preparation of customer loan presentations.
  • Provides oversite for preparation of summary pre-flight write-ups including preparation of O2 Sponsor Finance Quick Models and fully underwritten credit committee presentations.
  • Participates in special projects as required including but not limited to monthly portfolio reporting, annual budgeting, overall summary PowerPoint on O2 Sponsor Finance, industry competitive information gathering, industry research, etc.


Required Qualifications:

VP Level: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related area of study and five or more years of related experience (commercial banking, finance, credit, etc.); or equivalent combination of education and experience.

1stVP/SVP Levels: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related area of study and seven or more years of related experience (commercial banking, finance, credit, etc.); or equivalent combination of education and experience.

The more senior the Officer level, the greater the annual production goals.

Competencies:



  • Strong understanding of cash flow lending including analyzing debt service, leverage, and balance sheet. Understanding and analyzing borrower's enterprise value.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word/Excel/Outlook), PDF, Various Pricing Models, Pitchbook and GF Data. Learn Solifi/Stucky loan and collateral system.
  • General banking (credit/debit) knowledge includes competency with bank treasury systems and products.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal/written)
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Time management and ability to work within a fast-paced environment.


Preferred, but not required:

Related experience in credit/commercial banking



  • Completion of formal bank credit training program
  • Experience working within a change management environment.
  • Sponsor Finance cash flow lending experience.


Location: This position is considered a hybrid role. With management approval, an incumbent may work a combination of remote (Fridays) and onsite work (Monday-Thursday) to perform the regular responsibilities of the role. Actual schedule requirements may vary based upon business needs. Onsite work is performed at the Chicago-Wacker location.

Note: Job levels and hiring decisions are based upon both the business needs at the department and the qualifications of the incumbent. In some cases, an incumbent may meet the requirements of a more senior level but may be hired in at a lower level based upon department needs and staffing dynamics.

Compensation & Benefits

Base Pay: Dependent upon job level, base pay ranges from $150,000 - $215,000.

Officer Bonus Incentives: Eligible to participate in the annual Sponsor Finance Incentive Pool Program.

Total Compensation Potential (Base & Bonus): $250,000 - $365,000.
