Primary Purpose of Department
The mission of the Athletic Department at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte is to operate within the perspective of the overall educational program. The Department of Athletics supports the highest ethical standards of the University, the NCAA, and Conference Affiliation.
Primary Purpose of Position
The Director of Marketing & Revenue Generation is responsible for creating a first-class marketing experience for all athletics stakeholders through the implementation of fan engagement and revenue generation strategies and tactics. The position will be responsible for all Football marketing and game presentation duties, as well as other sports as assigned. This position will support digital initiatives, including email and digital marketing campaigns and data analytics. The individual will be responsible for driving revenue through comprehensive marketing communication strategies and the creation of captivating fan experiences. The position will collaborate with Creative, Ticket Operations, Ticket Sales, Fundraising, Communications, Sponsorship, and other auxiliaries and partnerships to build and execute strategic plans for Football and other ticketed sports that focus on driving revenue, attendance, and engagement.
Summary of Position Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Marketing, Ticket Operations, Ticket Sales, 49er Club, Strategic Communications, Charlotte Sports Properties, and other campus and auxiliary partnerships to create integrated marketing campaigns with a focus on maximizing engagement, sales and revenue generation.
  • Lead the department's email marketing and automation strategy, including the development and implementation of a department-wide email communication calendar.
  • Develop, implement, and optimize high-quality, engaging, and creative digital marketing campaigns and strategies for the department.
  • Develop the strategy and execution for all paid advertising campaigns, including social media, search, and display ads, utilizing an assigned budget and collaborating with external vendors when appropriate.
  • Work alongside ticket operations to develop and implement dynamic pricing strategies for ticketed sports
  • Lead 49er Club digital communication efforts to help increase membership and fundraising revenue while assisting in their goals and campaigns.
  • Provide support to Strategic Communications for the Charlotte Athletics Mobile App.
  • Develop a strategy for an external mass text messaging platform.
  • Create a data and analytics infrastructure to provide key insights to various external departments to help increase engagement, attendance, and revenue.
  • Maintain a good understanding of digital marketing best practices and new technologies.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by the Associate AD for Marketing and Fan Engagement.


Minimum Education/Experience
A Bachelor's Degree, two years of relevant work experience in collegiate marketing, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Excellent communication, organizational, and critical thinking skills. Ability to engage with varying stakeholders. Ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously. Night and weekend work required.
