The Chemical Engineering Subject Matter Expert is the global technical leader for chemical processes supporting the manufacture and repair of gas turbine components. This role provides expertise in coating removal, corrosion and sulfidation damage removal, chemical cleaning, etching, and surface preparation while driving process standardization, safety, sustainability, and technology advancement across Chromalloy's global operations.


Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the technical authority for chemical processing technologies used in turbine component manufacturing and repair.
  • Support global sites in resolving complex chemical processing and materials-related challenges.
  • Develop and standardize chemical process controls, specifications, and best practices to ensure quality and repeatability.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives through data analysis, process optimization, and root cause investigation.
  • Champion chemical process safety, regulatory compliance, environmental stewardship, and sustainable processing solutions.
  • Lead the global Chemical Processing Community of Practice, promoting knowledge sharing, technical alignment, and talent development.
  • Identify, develop, and deploy new chemical processing technologies that improve quality, capability, cost, safety, and environmental performance.
  • Collaborate with R&D, suppliers, and cross-functional teams to execute chemical processing technology roadmaps.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering; Master's degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in chemical processing within aerospace, gas turbine, or high-temperature alloy environments.
  • Expertise in wet chemical processing, surface treatment, and materials interactions.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing and/or repair operations.
  • Strong problem-solving, process improvement, and technical leadership skills.
  • Ability to travel globally up to 50%


Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of aerospace quality systems and regulatory requirements.
  • Proven success implementing new technologies and driving process improvements in manufacturing environments.

This position may require work hours outside of the regularly scheduled hours to meet operational needs. This may include work during evenings, weekends, and/or holidays. Additional work hours are assigned based on business requirements. Non-exempt employees will be paid overtime in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws.


The salary range for this position reflects a broad spectrum of experience levels. Individual compensation within the range is determined by multiple factors, including relevant experience, education, certifications, job related skills, internal equity, and market conditions. We evaluate each candidate individually to ensure fair and competitive pay decisions.
