Overview

Northwood Technical College is seeking applications from qualified candidates for a full-time Facility Maintenance Manager at the Ashland Campus.

The Facility Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the physical plant and the environmental systems of the campus. This position supervises the custodial and maintenance staff and works closely with all departments in providing safe, clean, and comfortable learning and working environments.

  • Ensure campus facilities are maintained in clean and safe condition.
  • Manage day-to-day operation and maintenance of the physical plant and grounds.
  • Schedule, prioritize, and coordinate maintenance and repair activities of campus facilities.
  • Model safe working practices and ensure that maintenance shop tools and work areas are maintained in clean, safe, and orderly manner. Secures necessary protective devices and observes work to ensure that safety practices are followed according to OSHA standards.
  • Hire, orient, coach, empower staff and assess their ongoing development.
  • Develop and implement plans for upgrading existing facilities, equipment, utilities, etc.
  • Assist the Director of Facilities & Safety in managing capital projects for the campus.

  • Manage budget and other resources specific to department.
  • Maintain effective record-keeping system.
  • Coordinate and manage the use of outside vendors. Assist in the preparation and administration of service contracts.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff in providing an environment for students that is conducive to learning.
  • Actively participate in campus, regional, college-wide, and state teams and committees.
  • Designated as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) to receive and report criminal incidents to the Northwood Tech Safety Office by virtue of this role's responsibilities at the College (only applies to instructor positions with club advising duties).
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Degree & Experience Required:

  • Combination of related education and/or work experience totaling seven years; at least one year must be supervisory/leadership experience

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally
  • Ability to contribute to a team environment while maintaining accountability and motivation in self and others
  • Strong customer service skills that focus on diversity, community, and continuous quality improvement
  • Problem-solving skills that employ critical thinking
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office suite and the ability to effectively apply technology to tasks and projects
  • Experience leading projects through time management and effective delegation
  • Knowledge of and experience with plumbing, heating, refrigeration, air conditioning, hydraulics, engine mechanics, electrical, grounds care, and facility maintenance
  • Ability to obtain driver's license and insurance coverage in accordance with College policy

FY27 Salary - Grade L - $66,749 / year
