The Office of the University Registrar is seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative Business Systems Analyst to join our team. In this role, you will help support the systems, data, and reporting processes that are central to the university's academic operations. Your work will directly support faculty, staff, administrators, and students by ensuring critical registrar systems and institutional data remain accurate, accessible, and effective.

As the Business Systems Analyst, you will serve as a key resource for maintaining and improving applications that support registrar functions such as course evaluations, enrollment reporting, student records, and external reporting services. You will analyze data, develop reports and dashboards, support compliance reporting requirements, and partner with stakeholders across the university to identify opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiency.

This position offers the opportunity to work at the intersection of technology, data, and higher education administration. You will play an important role in helping the Office of the University Registrar deliver reliable information, support evidence-based decision-making, and maintain compliance with state, federal, and external reporting requirements.

Minimum Requirements



  • Bachelor's degree and at least three years of relevant experience; or
  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience.



Preferred Qualifications



  • Experience supporting student information systems, academic administration, or registrar operations in a higher education environment.
  • Experience with institutional reporting, data analysis, data governance, and data quality management.
  • Experience working with databases, reporting tools, business intelligence platforms, dashboards, and data visualization solutions.
  • Experience using statistical software such as SAS (preferred), Stata, R, or Python.
  • Familiarity with National Student Clearinghouse reporting processes and external compliance reporting requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex data and communicate findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Position Responsibilities:




  • Administer and support business-critical applications used by the Office of the University Registrar, including systems supporting course evaluations, student records, enrollment reporting, and external reporting services. Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, maintain documentation, and support upgrades while ensuring data integrity and continuity of operations.
  • Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, queries, and data extracts that support operational, compliance, and strategic initiatives across the university. Fulfill routine and ad hoc data requests while ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and reliability of information provided to stakeholders.
  • Analyze institutional data to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies that inform planning, assessment, reporting, and decision-making. Perform data validation, quality assurance reviews, and reconciliation activities to support confidence in institutional reporting.
  • Support external reporting and compliance activities, including National Student Clearinghouse submissions, regulatory reporting, and survey-based initiatives associated with rankings, benchmarking, and other external data requests. Ensure submissions comply with established definitions, standards, and deadlines.
  • Evaluate and improve business processes related to registrar operations, data management, and reporting. Document workflows, reporting requirements, system procedures, and data definitions to support consistency, scalability, and operational effectiveness.
  • Provide consultation, training, and user support for registrar systems, reporting tools, and data resources. Develop training materials and promote self-service solutions that enable faculty and staff to efficiently access and utilize information.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the university to identify business needs, recommend system enhancements, and establish consistent policies and workflows that improve the use of data and technology in support of academic operations.

Anticipated Pay Range: Duke University provides an annual base salary range for this position as USD $62,766.00 to USD $97,798.00.
