About This Role

Reorganization of the Division of Facilities has been undertaken to become more efficient and effective, as well as, operate as a First Class Customer Service provider. Core duties for this position includes: DDC Controls & Preventative Maintenance Perform maintenance and scheduled routine preventive maintenance on all building automation; Pneumatic & Legacy Systems - Make necessary repairs and upgrades on component replacement of building pneumatic and legacy systems; Control System Graphics - Develop graphics for Building Automation System and assign points so that controls can be monitored at the control terminals Project Development - Participate and assist with startup and verification of new projects to ensure successful operational functionality and testing of all building control systems and Fire/Security Systems - Work with various departments on campus and Honeywell on programming & development on a variety of fire & security systems.


About Us

The Division of Facilities' maintenance personnel conduct routine preventive maintenance on building systems and equipment to ensure the operational reliability of our campus' building systems. This maintenance involves regular, scheduled service to maintain equipment functionality without the need for immediate repairs. Many of the older buildings have systems and equipment that have exceeded their expected lifespan, highlighting the value of a strong preventive maintenance program.


Worksite Description

This position is On-site.

All employees must reside in the United States when they begin working to comply with state law. K-State is unable to provide remote or hybrid work opportunities for residents of the state of Idaho.


What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:



  • Requires a high school diploma (or equivalent) and three years of relevant experience. Requirements may be met through a combination of education and experience.
  • Valid driver's license.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Familiarity with utility units and conversions (Kwh, KW, CCF, MMBTU, gallons, etc.)
  • Familiarity with meter operations and types (i.e. turbine, ultrasonic, etc.)
  • Ability to read/interpret data from a wide variety of utility metering devices.
  • Familiarity with Honeywell Building Automation System
  • Ability to interface and effectively work with various groups and cultures.
  • Ability to balance multiple competing priorities, meet deadlines, be responsive and thrive in a team environment.
  • Self-driven, results-orientated with a positive outlook and clear focus.
  • Outstanding organizational and analytical skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Proficiency with IPads and Apple products
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), Microsoft Project, and AutoCAD.
  • Associates Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Trade.
  • Familiarity with HVAC Controls, Networks, Routers and WANS


Additional Role Information:



  • Have and maintain a valid driver's license. Operate various state vehicles for transportation to job sites and delivery of materials / equipment as needed.
  • Ability to work at a personal computer and iPad.
  • Must have the ability to position self to access meters by ascending or descending ladders and working in confined spaces, including steam tunnels.
  • Subject to inclement weather response.
  • This position is considered essential. Responsible to know, understand, and follow safety guidelines in accordance with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations, to include K-State and Facilities policies and procedures.
  • Responsible to comply with the safe work practices identified in the departmental Job Hazard Analysis, Personal Protective Equipment Assessment and Departmental Safety Orientation Acknowledgment form.
