Manager of Purchasing Job Responsibilities:

  • Oversees assigned department or functional area to ensure it is performing effectively, which may include but not limited to, hiring and training team members, creating and implementing business strategies, managing performance of team members, and delegating tasks.
  • Partners with Supply Chain Operations to problem solve issues regarding ordering through requisitions and receiving.
  • Serves as an expert resource on the procurement strategy and how the information system processes contract information, purchasing, receiving and payment of goods, services and capital equipment.
  • Manages the lifecycle of Supply Chain related projects.
  • Assists with clinical and non-clinical department leaders on procurement policies and the selection of approved products.
  • Works with Sourcing team to communicate major category commitments to the Buyer team.
  • Creates best practice buying protocols on direct/distribution sourcing while guiding Buyers around discontinuation and item substitutes.
  • Creates and continuously monitors KPIs and customer satisfaction.
  • Supports Buyers to proactively resolve purchasing challenges; Provides direct oversight for special purchasing projects such as disaster preparedness grants.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Education: Associate's degree or equivalent experience (4 years of relevant purchasing experience)
  • Experience:
    • 5 years of purchasing experience, Lawson system experience, project management experience
    • 2 years of supervisory or management experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum 10 years healthcare supply chain and procurement experience
  • Minimum of 5 years direct management of purchasing buyers
  • Experience with procurement operations including capital, furniture, and equipment
