| Description of Work |
This Endowed Professor will support existing programs and activities of the department and provide leadership for the following initiatives: development of a rural teacher/administrative training program in collaboration with rural school districts and communities; establishment of summer institutes and professional development opportunities for P-12 teachers, administrators, school boards and other community stakeholders; and development and teaching of advanced training programs. In addition, the chair will continue to pursue scholarly activities and secure external funds to support initiatives; serve on university, local and state committees, boards, task forces and make in-service presentations to community constituents, etc. |
| Competencies/Knowledge Skills, and Abilities Required in this Position |
Possess an established record of accomplishments and contributions to the field of education and professional activity reflected by publications, grants, and national prominence in teacher education.
An established scholar with demonstrated experience in the integration of technology and knowledge in personnel preparation in high needs areas of teacher education.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential for establishing a wide array of effective working relationships within and outside the campus community. |
| Minimum Training and Experience |
A Doctorate degree is required in
Education or related areas. May hire at the lower rank of Distinguished Scholar based on review of credentials. The individual selected for the Distinguished Professorship will be a published scholar in
Education. His/her presence on the faculty will provide intellectual depth while further strengthening the quality of teaching in the fulfillment of the university's mission of excellence in research and scholarly activities. |
