The Land Development Business Unit is seeking a Senior Civil Designer in Woodinville, WA.

This position plays a key role in the planning, design, and delivery of a wide variety of private and public development projects, including residential, commercial, industrial, mixed-use, institutional, and community development projects.

The successful candidate will serve as a technical leader responsible for developing and overseeing civil design solutions, coordinating with multidisciplinary project teams, mentoring junior staff, and ensuring high-quality project deliverables. This individual will possess advanced expertise in Civil 3D and land development design principles and will independently perform complex design assignments while supporting project managers and engineers throughout project delivery.

What You'll Do Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and oversee the development of civil engineering design documents for land development projects.
  • Develop site grading, drainage, utility, stormwater, erosion control, roadway, and site layout designs.
  • Create and manage Civil 3D models, surfaces, corridors, pipe networks, grading objects, and plan production workflows.
  • Coordinate design efforts with engineers, planners, surveyors, landscape architects, and other disciplines.
  • Assist project managers and engineers in evaluating alternatives and developing design solutions that meet client objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead production efforts for project deliverables from conceptual design through final construction documents.
  • Perform quality control reviews of plans, calculations, exhibits, and technical deliverables.
  • Interpret and apply local agency design standards, development codes, permitting requirements, and construction standards.
  • Coordinate with utility providers, permitting agencies, and project stakeholders as needed.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to designers, technicians, and less experienced staff.
  • Assist with developing standards, workflows, templates, and best practices for the Land Development Group.
What You Bring Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology, Drafting Technology, Civil Engineering, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 15 years of progressively responsible civil design experience.
  • Expert-level proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and advanced design workflows.
  • Extensive experience leading technical design efforts on complex land development projects.
  • Demonstrated success mentoring technical staff and serving as a design resource across multiple projects.
  • Strong understanding of project delivery, constructability, permitting requirements, and agency coordination.
  • Proven ability to independently develop innovative design solutions for complex technical challenges.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with projects in the Pacific Northwest region.
  • Familiarity with local development codes, public works standards, and permitting processes.
  • Experience with hydrology and stormwater management software.
  • Experience using Bluebeam, ArcGIS, InfraWorks, or related design and visualization tools.
  • Experience developing CAD standards, templates, and workflow improvements.
