What this job involves:

This client-facing role combines technical expertise with consulting services to deliver comprehensive facility assessments for mission-critical infrastructure. You'll independently conduct Critical Environment Gap Assessments for data centers and critical facilities, evaluating MEP systems, identifying infrastructure gaps, and providing actionable recommendations. The position requires managing projects from proposal development through final deliverable while maintaining strong client relationships and ensuring project profitability. Success in this role means translating complex technical findings into clear business recommendations that help clients optimize their critical infrastructure investments.

Your day-to-day tasks will include:

  • Conducting comprehensive Critical Environment Gap Assessments (CEGA) for data centers and mission-critical facilities through visual, non-intrusive inspections of MEP systems

  • Performing detailed evaluations of electrical power systems (UPS, generators, PDUs, transformers, switchgear), cooling infrastructure (chillers, CRAH/CRAC units), fire suppression systems, and building automation systems

  • Assessing equipment condition, redundancy configurations (N, N+1, 2N), compliance with industry standards (NFPA, Uptime Institute, ASHRAE), and identifying single points of failure or deferred maintenance

  • Developing feasibility studies for generator systems, UPS replacement strategies, and HVAC design analysis with phased implementation plans

  • Serving as primary client contact during site visits, conducting stakeholder interviews, coordinating logistics, and delivering findings presentations to client leadership teams

  • Generating detailed technical proposals with scope definition, deliverables, pricing, and Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) cost estimates for capital improvements

  • Authoring comprehensive assessment reports including executive summaries, MEP systems analysis, code compliance gaps, prioritized recommendations with implementation timelines, and opinion of probable costs

  • Managing multiple concurrent projects by tracking hours, expenses, profitability metrics, and ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery

  • Maintaining organized documentation including photo archives, equipment inventory matrices, and management presentations that meet JLL quality standards.

Desired experience and technical skills:

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Facilities Management, or related technical field

  • Minimum 5-7 years of hands-on experience in critical facilities, data centers, or mission-critical infrastructure

  • Demonstrated expertise in electrical power systems (UPS, generators, PDUs, ATS, switchgear), mechanical cooling systems (chillers, CRAH/CRAC, evaporative cooling), fire suppression and life safety systems, and building automation systems

  • Strong understanding of Uptime Institute Tier Standards, NFPA codes (70, 75, 110), data center design best practices, redundancy configurations, and equipment lifecycle management

  • Proven experience developing technical proposals, scope documents, and ROM cost estimates for capital projects

  • Strong financial acumen with ability to track project profitability and manage budgets while managing multiple concurrent projects effectively

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to present complex technical information to non-technical and executive-level audiences

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and comfort with photo documentation and digital asset management

  • Willingness and ability to travel 30% (domestic) and conduct multi-day site assessments

  • Physical capability to navigate facility environments including rooftops, mechanical rooms, electrical rooms, confined spaces, and climbing ladders

Preferred:

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license

  • Relevant certifications such as CEM (Certified Energy Manager), CMRP (Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional), or equivalent

  • Experience with data center commissioning or recommissioning

  • Familiarity with specific equipment manufacturers and background in consulting or professional services environment
