THE POSITION

Schuylkill County Children and Youth provides services that promote the safety, permanency, and well-being of children. The agency is on the lookout for a Clerk Typist 2 with strong organizational skills. This position will be responsible for providing clerical support and assistance to all departments in a fast-paced office environment. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position supports agency staff by handling clerical tasks that keep casework operations organized and timely. As a Clerk Typist 2, you will perform the following duties:

  • Document Preparation: Transcribe and type casework materials such as reports, intakes, referrals, petitions, and correspondence
  • Reception Support: Answer calls, greet visitors, and direct inquiries or complaints to staff
  • Record Updates: Maintain agency records, file documents, and prepare photocopies
  • Client Interviews: Gather financial information for court appointments and process related mailings
  • Data Entry: Enter information into agency and statewide systems and track required screening tools
  • Electronic Records: Scan and set up electronic copies of agency documents

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Six months as a Clerk Typist 1 and educational development to the level of eighth grade; or
  • Completion of a high school business curriculum which included at least one typing course; or
  • Any combination of equivalent experience and training.

  • Hiring preference for this vacancy may be given to candidates who live within Schuylkill County. If no eligible candidates who live within Schuylkill County apply for this position, candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination and a drug screening.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
