Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Phlebotomist II to join a client office in Silver Spring, MD. This role involves patient registration, specimen collection, specimen processing, and delivering excellent patient care in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working independently, performing venipuncture on geriatric and hard-stick patients, and traveling to nearby locations as needed for coverage.
Key Responsibilities
Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collections using straight and butterfly needles.
Collect and process specimens for laboratory testing.
Perform up to 30 blood draws per day while ensuring patient comfort and specimen integrity.
Register patients and accurately enter patient demographics into the system.
Label, process, package, and prepare specimens according to laboratory procedures.
Maintain accurate documentation and comply with laboratory quality and safety standards.
Provide exceptional customer service while interacting with patients and healthcare staff.
Work independently in a client office setting.
Travel to surrounding locations when additional coverage is needed.
Follow all laboratory safety, infection control, and quality assurance guidelines.
Required Qualifications
Completion of a Phlebotomy training program or equivalent education.
Current Phlebotomy Certification required.
Minimum 1-2 years of phlebotomy experience preferred.
Experience performing venipuncture independently using straight and butterfly needles.
Comfortable performing blood draws on geriatric and hard-stick patients.
Strong specimen collection, processing, and patient registration skills.
Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Ability to work independently in a client office environment.
Previous LabCorp employees must be eligible for rehire.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in a physician's office, patient service center, or medical office.
Experience with patient registration and laboratory information systems.
Comfortable traveling to nearby locations for coverage as needed.
