Job Summary

The Stationary Engineer is responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining high-pressure steam boilers and associated powerhouse equipment in a 24/7 industrial facility. This role performs routine inspections, water testing, equipment maintenance, system monitoring, recordkeeping, and emergency response activities to support safe and reliable facility operations. The successful candidate has hands-on experience with high-pressure boilers and steam-plant equipment and is comfortable working independently in a demanding operating environment.

Job Responsibilities



  • Operate, monitor, and maintain high-pressure steam boilers and associated powerhouse equipment.
  • Operate and maintain dual-fuel boilers and related boiler systems.
  • Monitor and maintain boiler-feedwater systems, deaerator tanks, feed pumps, and associated equipment.
  • Perform daily boiler-water testing and monitor boiler chemical levels.
  • Maintain chemical-injection pumps, controls, and chemical storage systems.
  • Monitor and maintain condensate tanks, transfer pumps, and return systems.
  • Perform scheduled condensate-system blowdowns.
  • Monitor and maintain water softener systems and replenish salt as needed.
  • Clean and maintain fuel pumps and strainers.
  • Perform and monitor conductivity blowdowns.
  • Operate and monitor air compressors used for boiler operations.
  • Monitor Building Management Systems and maintain appropriate heating and cooling conditions.
  • Operate and monitor emergency generators, switchgear, and related systems.
  • Conduct scheduled emergency-generator testing and maintain required records.
  • Monitor fuel-oil storage systems and switch fuel tanks as required.
  • Complete maintenance activities, operational logs, and required facility documentation.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and respond to emergency operational and maintenance needs.
  • Perform routine maintenance on pumps, compressors, generators, fuel systems, water-treatment equipment, and other mechanical systems.


Job Requirements



  • Hands-on experience operating and maintaining high-pressure boilers and steam-plant equipment.
  • Experience operating and maintaining commercial or industrial powerhouse equipment.
  • Knowledge of boiler-feedwater systems, pumps, generators, compressors, fuel systems, and water-treatment equipment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, monitor, and perform routine maintenance on mechanical systems.
  • Experience with pumps, compressors, generators, fuel systems, and water-treatment systems.
  • Ability to work assigned first, second, or third shifts.
  • Ability to work independently and respond effectively to emergency operational and maintenance needs.
  • Ability to maintain accurate operational and maintenance records.
  • Ability to successfully complete a required background check.


Preferred Experience



  • Experience with Building Management Systems (BMS) or HVAC controls.
  • Previous experience as a Stationary Engineer, Operating Engineer, Boiler Operator, Building Engineer, or Power Plant Operator.
  • Experience working in a correctional facility or similarly regulated environment.
