DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position supports the preparation, service, and sanitation of meals for residents of Southwestern Veterans' Center. It helps maintain smooth daily operations in both kitchen and dining areas. As a Food Service Worker 1, you will perform the following duties:
- Food Preparation: Prepare and plate food items using proper portions
- Meal Assembly: Set up serving carts and place food items on trays
- Diet Accuracy: Read color codes and interpret menu tickets for special diets
- Sanitation Tasks: Clean kitchens, dining rooms, equipment, floors, and walls
- Dish Handling: Operate dish machine and return clean items to storage
- Record Keeping: Document inventory use and temperatures for food and equipment

- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM and 11:00 AM to 7:30 PM, with alternating weekends and holidays, and a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

- Previous food service worker experience
Legal Requirements:
- A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
- Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
