Under direction, performs advanced/lead-level surgical technologist duties utilizing specialized knowledge acquired through formal training. In addition to performing the duties of the Sr Surgical Tech, the incumbent serves in a lead/subject matter expert capacity providing support to designated specialty surgical areas within Perioperative Services.

In collaboration with the Nursing Service Line Coordinator, duties include verification of specialty equipment and inventory, contacting surgeons concerning equipment, instrumentation and supply needs for complex cases, communicating with related buyers, vendors, and other staff concerning their service, contacting surgical supply companies and their vendors about malfunctioning or broken equipment, and providing continuing education in-service to staff.

Assists the unit leadership with service related activities and identifying opportunities to streamline the operations relative to the surgical tech role. Functions as a preceptor, mentor and resource to new staff and other scrub personnel. Performs other related duties as required.

This is for a PM shift with scheduled hours starting at 1300 - 2100 or 1430 - 2300. The final schedule will be discussed with the selected interviewee.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technician training program.
  • BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.
  • CPR/BLS healthcare provider (recognized by AHA or equivalent).
  • Three (3) years of Surgical Tech experience in an Acute/Perioperative Services/Hospital setting.
  • Must have Inpatient OR, Same Day Surgery, strong Robotics, Vascular, Neurosurgery, Spine and Level 1 Trauma experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in one complex surgical specialty or multiple surgical specialties.
  • Demonstrated skills in precepting, time management and organization of supplies and equipment.
  • Knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • NBSTSA certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST).
  • Leadership/Lead experience.
  • Process improvement and/or precepting experience preferred.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $93,292 - $116,030 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $44.68 - $55.57

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
