Are you a tax professional who thrives in the details of indirect tax compliance and wants to be part of a team modernizing its tax function? We're seeking a Tax Analyst to join a global manufacturer of brake systems for the automotive and locomotive industries, supporting multiple North American subsidiaries from headquarters.

This is a great opportunity to step into a well-established indirect tax function during an exciting time - the team currently operates in SAP and is in the process of implementing Avalara, giving you the chance to be part of a meaningful systems transformation. This position starts as a temporary assignment with the potential to convert to a permanent role.

What You'll Do

  • Manage all matters relating to non-income taxes, including cross-border import duties, property taxes, and sales taxes (Sales & Use, VAT, and GST/HST), including Form 1042, FBAR, Form 8802, and W9 filings
  • Prepare monthly account analysis and journal entries for indirect taxes
  • Identify opportunities to optimize tax positions and improve processes
  • Assist in selecting and implementing software to support indirect tax compliance needs, including the ongoing Avalara rollout
  • Analyze historical data and respond to inquiries from taxing jurisdictions and the company's German parent holding company
  • Respond to and manage indirect tax audits
  • Review internal controls to ensure company policies meet regulatory requirements
  • Support the direct tax department and engage external consultants as needed

What You'll Need

  • 7+ years of experience in public accounting or a manufacturing environment, preparing Sales & Use tax returns
  • Extensive knowledge of U.S. state indirect tax compliance
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian GST/HST and VAT jurisdictions
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles and audit procedures (IFRS)
  • Excel-heavy Microsoft Office proficiency
  • Strong tax research, analytical, and problem-solving skills with a focus on error prevention
  • Effective verbal and written communication
  • A self-starter mindset with a strong sense of urgency and ownership
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance

Nice to Have

  • IFRS knowledge
  • SAP experience

The Details

  • Type: Temporary, with potential for conversion to permanent
  • Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM
  • Location: Fully remote
  • Pay: Based on experience

If you're looking for a role where your indirect tax expertise will have real impact - and where you'll get hands-on exposure to a major systems implementation - we'd love to hear from you.
