Position Title: Sales Support Assistant (Retail Account) - Matcha Products Location: Torrance, CA Classification: Non-Exempt Work Schedules: Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM (Occasional evening or weekend availability required for local consumer events and trade shows) Summary A leading global manufacturer and distributor specializing in premium Japanese green tea and Matcha products is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Retail Sales Assistant to join their team in Torrance, CA. This position reports directly to the National Account Executive for Retail and plays a vital role in supporting retail sales operations, executing administrative functions, analyzing data, and maintaining exceptional client relationships. The ideal candidate possesses strong analytical capabilities, a deep appreciation for Japanese culture and Matcha, and thrives in a close-knit, family-oriented workplace culture. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Answer
incoming calls on behalf of the Retail Sales Team and communicate regularly with external partners via phone and email. - Create,
analyze, and maintain detailed data reports in Excel for management and compile data for buyer presentations using PowerPoint. - Assist
with and develop professional sales presentation materials for buyers and key stakeholders. - Monitor
and track departmental budgets, collaborating directly with management to review financials and resolve discrepancies. - Coordinate
internally across teams to ensure customer orders are processed and shipped accurately and on time. - Communicate
current pricing updates, service changes, item discontinuances, and shipping information to relevant internal and external parties. - Fulfill
sample requests for retail stores, sales meetings, brokers, account managers, and internal team members. - Research
and recommend potential retail services to management by collecting and analyzing customer feedback and market needs. - Monitor
inventory levels closely with management to ensure adequate stock is maintained. - Coordinate
store demonstrations with internal staff and third-party demo representatives. - Organize
conference calls, sales meetings, and presentations involving brokers, sales reps, retailers, and vendors. - Serve
as a backup representative for consumer events and local retail trade shows as needed (may occasionally involve local evening or weekend attendance; overnight travel is not typically required). - Continuously
seek opportunities to streamline office workflows in a fiscally responsible manner. - Perform
special projects, administrative tasks, and miscellaneous sales support duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's
degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. - A
genuine appreciation for Japanese culture and a passion for Matcha. - High
analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail. - Advanced
proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint for data analysis and client presentations. - Strong
written and verbal communication skills with a focus on delivering exceptional customer service. - Alignment
with a family-oriented team culture. - Flexibility
to occasionally assist with local consumer events or trade shows during evening or weekend hours, if needed. - Valid
driver's license and willingness to perform local travel as requested.
- Minimum
of 1 year of experience in a sales support or administrative role within the retail, food and beverage, CPG, or natural products industry. Familiarity or hands-on experience with ERP systems (e.g., Business Central) (preferred).
The base pay range listed reflects what we reasonably expect to offer for this role. Actual pay may vary based on location, experience, and performance.
