- Collaborates with the Chief Nursing Officer, medical staff, departmental directors, clinical directors, and the nursing staff to coordinate the care of the patient.
- Assures a safe, clean, comfortable, pleasant and healthful environment for patients, staff and visitors, in collaboration with staff and other departments.
- Assures and guides the development of departmental philosophy, patient care policies, procedures and standards that are consistent with the Nursing Service Organization and regulatory requirements. Provides leadership for the implementation of the goals of the Nursing Service Organization.
- Demonstrates a commitment to personal growth by actively participating in professional organizations, by seeking opportunities to increase knowledge base and by attending workshops, courses, and conferences. Seeks and participates in opportunities to present or publish on professional topics.
- Communicates and shares information with staff on a regular basis. Keeps employees informed of new policies, procedures, new programs and other pertinent information.
- Conducts annual staff performance evaluations in a timely and meaningful manner.
- Provides feedback, discusses goals, accomplishments and assures staff is competent to perform required duties.
- Complies with hospital system "Code of Conduct" standards. Employee upholds ethical and honest transactions and functions in an appropriate manner within the work place.
- Collaborates with the Director of Nursing to develop a comprehensive fiscal plan, including capital, operating, and new program budgets for the clinical area. Administers and monitors same.
- Maintains fiscal responsibilities, monitors financial performance and productivity and makes appropriate adjustments.
- Assures the development and ongoing maintenance of flexible and efficient 24-hour staffing for assigned areas of service. Collaborates with staffing office to identify opportunities for more efficient uses of nursing resources.
- Collaborates with Human Resources to recruit, select, and retain quality candidates for nursing/clinical services. Assures that appropriate licensure and credentials are kept current.
- Collaborates with Risk Manager, patient care service representatives to assure that actual and potential liability and risk are identified and appropriate corrective actions are taken.
- Mentors and guides RN staff in fulfilling their role responsibilities and developing their leadership and management skills.
- Supervises Mental Health Technicians in fulfilling their role responsibilities.
- Participates in committees to assure that standards of care and policies and procedures are consistent across the hospital.
- Fosters an environment that seeks continuous quality improvement while supporting and coaching staff in the PI process. Participates in unit-based PI projects and committees, as well as related projects, as appropriate.
- Demonstrates a commitment to education for patients, families and the community at large by supporting staff in the development of education programs and community service activities.
- Complies with hospital policies regarding confidentiality.
- Complies with all policies related to Emergency Procedures as defined in the
- Environment of Care plans. Knows personal role in event of a disaster or emergency situation.
Qualifications
Job Requirements:
- Education: Graduate from an accredited program of professional nursing required. Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- Licensure: Currently licensed to practice by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.
- 3-5 years of experience with adolescent population preferred.
- 3-5 years of behavioral health experience preferred.
