Summary of Job Duties:The Graduate Assistant proactive professional focused entirely on student-facing initiatives, including advising, outreach, event planning, and marketing.
Responsibilities may include assisting with student check-in, basic data entry, resume reviews, career readiness programming, and Blackboard career modules. The Graduate Assistant will also support career fairs, workshops, tabling events, and outreach initiatives, including assisting with promotional materials and social media content. This position requires professionalism, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain confidentiality when working with student records and sensitive information in accordance with university policies and FERPA guidelines. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy. Qualifications:

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution of higher education;
  • Regular admission to a UA Little Rock graduate degree program, or good standing with the UA Little Rock Graduate School for continuing graduate students;
  • Ability to work the required hours (FT-50% - 20 hours a week/PT-25% - 10 hours a week) with regular attendance;
  • Eligible to legally work up to 20 hours per week in the United States.

Student Advising & Outreach

  • Create or update presentations and deliver workshops on common career topics (e.g., resumes and internships) and for targeted audiences (e.g., student-athletes and graduating seniors);
  • Provide individual career advising to help students with resume writing, job and internship searches, and mock interviews.

Event Planning & Marketing

  • Serve as liaison for marketing events, programs, and workshops aimed at students and alumni;
  • Creatively promote programs and events to maximize student participation;
  • Maintain office social media accounts to ensure timely dissemination of information.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with student check-in, customer service, and front-desk operations;
  • Perform basic data entry, record maintenance, and other administrative support tasks;
  • Conduct resume reviews and provide feedback to students using University Career Services resources and guidelines;
  • Assist with updating of career readiness programming, workshops, and outreach initiatives;
  • Support Blackboard career modules and related student engagement activities;
  • Assist with career fairs, workshops, tabling events, and other Career Services programs, including event setup, promotion, and student support;
  • Assist with the creation of promotional materials, social media content, and marketing efforts to increase awareness of Career Services programs and resources;
  • Maintain confidentiality when working with student records and sensitive information, and participate in professional development activities;
  • Assist with training or supporting Career Ambassador and Work-Study students as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Familiarity with social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.);
  • Basic knowledge of graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Express) and video editing is a plus;
  • Strong written communication skills and attention to detail;
  • Adequate in Google Workspace and Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint);
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Creative, adaptable, and willing to learn;
  • Must have availability to support outreach, marketing, and tabling events. Most events occur during regular business hours, with the highest concentration on Wednesdays and Thursdays between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend events may be required.
