About the Opportunity We are seeking an experienced *Workers' Compensation Claims Specialist* to join a leading insurance organization. This is an excellent opportunity for a claims professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys managing complex workers' compensation claims from investigation through resolution.
The ideal candidate will have strong analytical abilities, excellent negotiation skills, and a solid understanding of workers' compensation claims handling practices. Key Responsibilities * Manage complex workers' compensation claims throughout the claim lifecycle. * Interpret policy coverages and determine claim applicability while escalating issues as needed. * Establish claim activities, maintain reserves, and authorize claim payments within authority limits. * Conduct investigations by working with insureds, claimants, witnesses, experts, and business partners. * Identify opportunities for early claim resolution and negotiate settlements effectively. * Recognize potential fraudulent activity and coordinate referrals to the Special Investigation Unit (SIU). * Coordinate subrogation and recovery opportunities with appropriate internal teams. * Partner with attorneys, underwriters, agents, medical providers, nurse case managers, and insureds to develop effective claim resolution strategies. * Maintain accurate claim documentation and ensure timely data entry. * Prepare reports, provide claim analysis, and communicate findings to management. * Stay current on industry trends, state regulations, and workers' compensation laws. * Provide guidance and support to other claims professionals as needed. Required Qualifications * Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. * 3+ years of workers' compensation claims experience. * California Workers' Compensation Certification required. * Strong knowledge of claims handling principles and insurance industry practices. * Experience managing complex claims and evaluating coverage issues. * Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills. * Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. * Ability to independently manage multiple priorities and deadlines. * Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and business-related software. * Ability to make sound business decisions and evaluate claims using cost-benefit analysis. * Strong written communication skills with the ability to prepare detailed claim reports. Preferred Qualifications * Professional insurance or claims designations. * Experience collaborating with legal counsel, medical professionals, and insurance partners. * Advanced knowledge of workers' compensation regulations and compliance requirements. *Job Type & Location*This is a Contract position based out of Chicago, IL. *Pay and Benefits*The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $80.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
