$73,817 - $80,664 Application Window Open date: August 26, 2026 Next review date: Friday, Aug 28, 2026 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Final date: Tuesday, Sep 1, 2026 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Position description The Department of Atmospheric & Oceanic Sciences at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), invites applications for a lecturer position for Fall 2026 (AY 2026-2027) to teach A&O SCI 123: Climate Change Adaptation Challenge. * Teach an upper-division undergraduate course examining the physical basis of climate change, its impacts on human and natural systems, and strategies for climate change adaptation. * Prepare and deliver lectures and lead class discussions on the science of climate change, climate impacts, and adaptation across sectors such as water resources, coastal systems, wildfire, ecosystems, infrastructure, agriculture, and public health. * Develop course assignments and assessments, evaluate student performance, hold regular office hours, and provide guidance to teaching assistants, if assigned. * Foster an engaging and inclusive learning environment that promotes critical thinking, scientific communication, and evidence-based analysis of climate adaptation challenges. Qualifications Basic qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at time of application): * Previous training and experience in climate science, climate impacts, climate adaptation, or related interdisciplinary fields. * Demonstrated knowledge of the physical science of climate change and its implications for climate adaptation. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills. * Previous experience teaching or serving as a teaching assistant in undergraduate courses, with the ability to effectively mentor students and support learning in a diverse classroom Application Requirements Document requirements
