A Day In The Life
The Sr. Manager, Investments & Asset Management, under the direction of the Head of Family Office, will own investment reporting and the investment pipeline for The Friedkin Group (TFG), support fund and direct investment diligence, and help build the team's data and AI capabilities. This is a dynamic, broad-based investment role offering the opportunity to develop as an investor beyond a traditional style box. The Sr. Manager will assist in evaluating co-investment and direct investment opportunities as a generalist investor. With an objective lens across internally sourced and external-manager investment opportunities, the Sr. Manager will assist with identifying and monitoring external investment managers across various asset classes, including but not limited to, private equity and venture capital global fund investments. Importantly, as each team member operates in multiple capacities, the Sr. Manager will own financial reporting for the investment portfolio, a key component for success in the role. The successful candidate will be a collaborative team player willing to contribute to ad hoc projects across investments, business development, asset management and other departments to support family office and shareholders' objectives. This is a hands-on role on a small team, and the right candidate will find building better reporting and tools as rewarding as evaluating investments. The role is expected to be roughly 40% reporting and pipeline, 30% diligence, and, initially, 30% investment-related technology improvements enabled by AI.

This role will also serve as a catalyst for modernizing how the Family Office analyzes, monitors, and reports on investments. The Sr. Manager will identify, pilot, and lead the adoption of AI, automation, and data tools across financial reporting, investment analysis, and portfolio monitoring, translating emerging technology into measurable gains in speed, accuracy, and decision quality.

As a Sr Mgr, Invst&Asset Mgmt you will:

Direct & Co-Investment Analysis

  • Evaluate co-investment opportunities sourced from private equity sponsors, family offices, and other direct-deal networks, including business, financial, and structural review.
  • Build and stress-test financial models (DCF, returns/IRR/MOIC sensitivity) to assess deal economics and downside scenarios, leveraging automation and AI-assisted tools to accelerate scenario analysis and diligence workflows.
  • Draft investment memoranda and presentation materials summarizing opportunity, risks, structure, and recommendation for investment committee review.
  • Contribute opportunities from your personal network where relevant.

Fund Investment Analysis

  • Screen and evaluate prospective fund managers (GPs) across strategies, including track record analysis, attribution, and benchmarking against relevant indices and peer sets.
  • Perform qualitative and quantitative analyses of fund terms, fee structures, cash flow projections, and portfolio construction fit.
  • Conduct operational and organizational due diligence and review fund documentation in coordination with the legal team.
  • Monitor existing fund investments through capital call and distribution tracking, performance reporting, and periodic manager check-ins, using automated data capture and dashboards to streamline tracking.
  • Prepare fund recommendation memos and maintain manager research files.

Portfolio & Reporting

  • Own the central investment pipeline, tracking opportunities from intake through diligence and decision, coordinating timelines on deals in diligence, and reporting pipeline status across the team.
  • Own capital calls and distributions across all investments, including processing, tracking, and reporting.
  • Maintain portfolio-level tracking of direct, co-investment, and fund positions, including valuations and performance metrics (IRR, TVPI, DPI, RVPI).
  • Own monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting, capital account reconciliation, and ad hoc analysis for internal stakeholders, and lead the automation of recurring reports to improve timeliness, accuracy, and auditability.
  • Assist with cash flow forecasting and liquidity planning across the private investment portfolio.
  • Perform and coordinate portfolio construction and risk analytics, monitor investment performance, and engage in risk management activities as needed for the multi-asset investment portfolio and/or selected asset classes, as part of the overall portfolio construction framework.

AI & Technology Enablement

  • Develop and execute a roadmap for applying AI and automation across investment analysis, financial reporting, and portfolio monitoring, prioritizing use cases by value, risk, and feasibility.
  • Lead pilots and implementation of AI tools (e.g., generative AI assistants, document extraction, workflow automation) and drive adoption across the Family Office.
  • Automate recurring reporting, reconciliation, and data-collection processes, such as ingesting capital call notices, distribution statements, and fund financials into portfolio systems.
  • Use AI to accelerate diligence and research, including summarizing PPMs, LPAs, data room materials, and manager reporting, drafting first-pass investment memos, and flagging key terms and risks, with human review of all outputs.
  • Build and maintain dashboards and analytics (e.g., Power BI, Python, SQL) that give leadership real-time visibility into portfolio performance, liquidity, and exposures.
  • Partner with IT, Data, Legal, and Information Security to establish governance, data-quality standards, and responsible-use guardrails for AI, including the handling of confidential investment and family information.
  • Evaluate and recommend vendors and platforms (portfolio management, data aggregation, alternative-investment reporting), and manage implementation and onboarding.
  • Train and support teammates and affiliate finance teams in new tools, and document best practices.
  • Stay current on AI developments in the investment management and family office space, and bring forward practical ideas.
