As part of the Product Safety, Environmental, and Regulatory Compliance organization, you will help shape compliance strategies that enable business growth while ensuring our products meet evolving global regulatory requirements.
The impact you'll make
We are seeking a highly experienced regulatory compliance professionalsupporting semiconductor manufacturing equipment, capital equipment, or similarly regulated technologies. This individual will serve as a recognized technical leader and subject matter expert responsible for driving Lam's global product regulatory compliance strategy and influencing compliance decisions across multiple product groups.
What you'll do

Regulatory Leadership & Strategy

  • Serve as a company-wide subject matter expert for global product regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Develop and maintain Lam's long-term regulatory compliance strategy across multiple product lines and technology platforms.
  • Monitor emerging environmental, product safety, chemical, sustainability, and adjacent regulatory developments that may impact Lam products.
  • Evaluate business, technical, operational, and financial impacts associated with new or proposed regulations.
  • Lead development of enterprise-wide implementation strategies for significant regulatory changes.

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Partner with Engineering, Product Management, Supply Chain, Legal, Government Affairs, Quality, Manufacturing, and Sustainability teams to ensure successful implementation of regulatory requirements.
  • Drive complex cross-functional compliance initiatives involving multiple business units and stakeholders.
  • Influence product and technology roadmaps based on regulatory trends and strategic business considerations.
  • Establish governance mechanisms, processes, metrics, and reporting systems to improve compliance effectiveness across the organization.

Industry & External Engagement

  • Represent Lam within industry organizations, technical committees, standards-development organizations, and regulatory forums.
  • Collaborate with industry stakeholders, trade associations, and regulatory agencies to understand and influence emerging regulations and standards.
  • Partner with Government Affairs and Legal Compliance teams to assess proposed regulations and advocate for effective regulatory outcomes.
  • Lead development of industry position papers, regulatory comment letters, and technical recommendations.

Technical Compliance & Risk Management

  • Lead assessments of regulatory applicability, compliance requirements, and technical implementation plans.
  • Conduct regulatory risk assessments and communicate findings to executive leadership.
  • Ensure compliance requirements are translated into actionable engineering and business requirements.
  • Develop policies, procedures, guidance documents, and best practices to support organizational compliance.

Technical Leadership

  • Mentor and provide technical leadership to regulatory compliance, environmental compliance, and product safety engineers.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior engineering and business leaders.
  • Build organizational capability through training, coaching, and knowledge sharing.
  • Lead development of executive-level presentations, compliance roadmaps, risk assessments, and status reviews.
Who we're looking for
  • Bachelor's degree with 12+ years of experience, Master's degree with 8+ years of experience, or Ph.D. with 5+ years of experience in Engineering, Physical Sciences, Environmental Sciences, or a related technical discipline.
  • Experience supporting semiconductor manufacturing equipment, capital equipment, industrial systems, or similarly complex technologies.
  • Demonstrated experience leading enterprise-level compliance programs and strategic initiatives.
  • Strong technical understanding of global regulatory frameworks affecting complex equipment and electronic products.
Preferred qualifications
  • Advanced degree in Engineering, Sciences, Business, Public Policy, or related discipline.
  • Expert knowledge of product regulatory frameworks including REACH, RoHS, CE Marking, Machinery Regulation, EMC, Battery Regulation, PPWR, PFAS-related requirements, and related global product compliance requirements.
  • Deep understanding of SEMI EHS standards and semiconductor industry regulatory practices.
  • Experience engaging with regulatory agencies, standards organizations, industry associations, or government affairs organizations.
  • Demonstrated success influencing external regulatory or standards outcomes.
  • Experience presenting compliance strategies, business risks, and recommendations to executive leadership.
  • Strong project leadership skills with the ability to drive alignment across diverse stakeholders.
  • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and executive communication skills.
  • Proven track record of operating independently and influencing without direct authority.

Lam offers a variety of work location models based on the needs of each role. Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories - On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. 'On-site Flex' you'll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. 'Virtual Flex' you'll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.

Salary

CA San Francisco Bay Area Salary Range for this position: $141,000.00 -$307,000.00.

The above salary range for this position is relevant to applicants that reside or work onsite in the California, San Francisco Bay Area only. Salary offers will depend on factors that include the location you work from, your level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience and comparison to other employees already in this role. Actual salary may vary from salary offered due to numerous factors including but not limited to unpaid time off, unpaid leave, company mandated shutdown, and other relevant factors.
