DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position oversees key accounting operations that help the Bureau of Accounting and Financial Management maintain accurate statewide financial records and guide agencies in meeting professional accounting standards. The role directs staff, supports major reporting requirements, and ensures compliance with established laws and procedures. As an Accounting Manager, you will perform the following duties:
- Unit Leadership: Direct staff operations, guide workflow, and support employee development within the Financial and Budgetary Accounting (FABA) unit
- Accounting Compliance: Develop and maintain policies that reflect Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) standards and ensure consistent statewide financial practices
- Financial Oversight: Supervise reconciliations, year-end closing activities, and preparation of reports for statewide financial statements
- Data and Reporting: Coordinate production of accounting statements, master data creation, and information needed for statewide audits
- Process Improvement: Review procedures, recommend changes, and participate in committees focused on strengthening financial management
- Technical Guidance: Provide detailed accounting support to agencies and deliver training on complex reporting requirements

- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) full-time, with occasional in-office days when work dictates such requirements. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. - Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $78,925.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year as an Administrative Officer 3 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Six years of experience in progressively responsible and varied office management or staff work, including experience in personnel management, budgeting, or procurement; and such training as may have been gained through graduation from a four-year college or university; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
Additional Requirements:
- You must possess a minimum of 24 college credits in Accounting.
- You must have three years or more of progressively responsible professional accounting experience.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
- Experience supervising, leading, and developing staff to accomplish the goals of a unit/division
