Primary Duties:

  • Provides direct speech, language, and swallowing evaluations and re-evaluations, including assessment of prior and current level of functioning, settingappropriate goalsand makingappropriate dischargerecommendationsin accordance withstandards of practice.Providesdirect SLP (Speech Language Pathology) treatments according to standards of practice, including patient and family education, progression of treatment plan and implementation ofappropriate therapeuticinterventions.

  • Utilizesappropriate documentationforms and abides by PM&R's documentation standards. Collaborates with physicians, patients,family,and other members of the health care teamrelativeto patient treatment and progress and other affiliated agencies. Activelyparticipatesin meetings, in-services, and roundsregardingpatient care and/or departmental items.

  • Supervises SLP students and rehabilitation technicians. Coordinates and prioritizes own schedule in relation to demands of patient treatment and other departmental responsibilities.

  • Participates in program development as assigned by SLP Clinical Leader. Participates in at least 10 contact hours of continuing education programs or other opportunities for learning for continued professional competency.Providesat least one yearlyin-serviceto staff and/or community for continuing education purposes.

  • Adheres to all Department of Health and Joint Commission regulationsregardingthe physical environment and patient care.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degreeinSpeech-LanguagePathology.

  • Speech Language Practitioner Current D.C(Districtof Columbia) license or qualified candidate for D.C. license as a Speech Language Pathologist.

  • Certificate of Clinical Competency.

  • BLS (Basic Life Support).
