Overview

This is a remote role that may be hired in several markets across the United States.

The Senior AML/CFT Compliance Officer leads enterprise-wide financial crimes risk coverage assessments to evaluate whether effective measures, monitoring activities, processes, and risk mitigation practices are in place across products, services, customers, channels, and business activities. This role partners with stakeholders across the First and Second Lines of Defense to assess the effectiveness of preventive, detective, and monitoring measures; identify gaps and emerging risks; and provide recommendations to strengthen the organization's ability to detect, mitigate, and manage financial crime risk.


Responsibilities & Qualifications

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Lead risk-based assessments to evaluate the effectiveness of financial crimes controls, monitoring activities, and risk mitigation measures across products, services, customers, and channels.
  • Assess preventive, detective, and monitoring controls across the First and Second Lines of Defense to ensure adequate coverage of financial crimes risks.
  • Proactively identify evolving threats and recommend enhancements to monitoring frameworks, controls, models, and detection capabilities.
  • Partner with business units and control partners to understand products, processes, and customer activities and evaluate the effectiveness of associated coverage.
  • Collaborate with business, operations, Model, and FIU teams to verify monitoring scenarios and controls effectively detect known and emerging financial crime risks.
  • Identify gaps, residual risks, and opportunities to strengthen the financial crimes control environment.
  • Monitor emerging risks, financial crime typologies, regulatory developments, and industry trends to assess impacts on risk coverage and detection strategies.
  • Provide subject matter expertise and risk guidance in New Product and Services governance forums, ensuring financial crime risks and control requirements are appropriately considered during product development and implementation.
  • Participate in and, as appropriate, lead Monitoring Oversight Group meetings and related governance forums where monitoring enhancements, model changes, and coverage assessments are reviewed with senior leadership.
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration among Compliance, FIU, Data Analytics, Model teams, and other business stakeholders to advance monitoring effectiveness, efficiency, and innovation.
  • Support and help manage regulatory examinations, internal audits, and independent testing reviews, including coordinating responses, providing documentation, and addressing findings and remediation activities.
  • Prepare and present assessment results, emerging risks, key themes, and recommendations to senior management and governance committees.

Qualifications:
Minimum Required Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree and 6 years' experience OR High School Diploma or GED/Equivalent and 10 years' experience in Experience in AML/CFT compliance, investigations, or related field; CAMS certification strongly preferred; Deep understanding of BSA/AML regulations, OFAC, KYC, and other relevant regulatory requirements; Experience with AML/CFT software, data analytics tools, and case management systems; Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills

Preferred Area of Experience:

  • Proficient in BSA/AML compliance, financial crimes compliance, transaction monitoring, risk assessment, or related discipline.
  • Experience with transaction monitoring systems, AML models, scenario development, or monitoring optimization initiatives.
  • Experience supporting regulatory examinations, internal audits, or independent testing functions.
  • Knowledge of model governance and financial crimes risk assessment methodologies.
  • Expert knowledge of BSA/AML regulations, suspicious activity monitoring, financial crime typologies, and risk management practices.
  • Expertise in evaluating monitoring controls, conducting coverage assessments, or performing model and scenario effectiveness reviews.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess complex risks, identify control gaps, and develop practical solutions.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Licenses or Certifications:

CAMS, CFCS, CRCM, or equivalent professional certification

The base pay for this position is generally between $104,000 and $156,000. Actual starting base pay will be determined based on skills, experience, location, and other non-discriminatory factors permitted by law. For some roles, total compensation may also include variable incentives, bonuses, benefits, and/or other awards as outlined in the offer of employment
