Manufacturing Engineering Co-Op

The Role: Our site in Hillsboro, OR is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Co-Op to join our team for the Spring 2027 season. This assignment is intended to be 6 months in duration. This role provides a unique opportunity for a student to gain hands-on manufacturing engineering experience within a fast-paced production environment supporting the CMP Polishing Pads business. As a Manufacturing Engineering Co-op, you will partner with engineers, technicians, operators, and cross-functional teams to support production, quality, and continuous improvement initiatives. You will contribute to projects that improve safety, quality, productivity, and cost while developing core engineering skills in data analysis, process optimization, root cause problem solving, and manufacturing operations. This position may support manufacturing processes within Thermoset Compression Molding, Machining, Lamination, Automation, or other manufacturing operations based on business needs and project assignments. This position reports to a Manufacturing Engineering Leader.
What You'll Do:
Support manufacturing engineers in sustaining safe, efficient, and high-quality production processes. Collect, organize, and analyze manufacturing data to identify trends, process variation, and improvement opportunities. Assist with root cause investigations related to quality issues, equipment performance, scrap reduction, and process deviations. Participate in continuous improvement projects focused on Safety, Quality, and Productivity metrics. Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation including work instructions, control plans, standard operating procedures, and visual management tools. Support Statistical Process Control (SPC) activities and process capability assessments. Assist in planning, executing, and documenting engineering trials and Design of Experiments (DOE).Participate in equipment qualifications, process validations, and new product introductions. Apply Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles to improve manufacturing performance. Present project findings and recommendations to engineering and site leadership teams. Complete a meaningful engineering project with measurable business impact during the co-op assignment.
What We Seek:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret technical data. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and other Microsoft Office applications. Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented manufacturing environment. Demonstrated leadership through coursework, student organizations, research, athletics, or other extracurricular activities preferred. Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, SPC, Minitab, JMP, Power BI, or CAD software is a plus but not required. Prior internship, co-op, laboratory, research, or manufacturing experience is preferred but not required.
Desired Major(s) & Graduation Year:
Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in: Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science & Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Or a related engineering discipline Sophomore, Junior, or Senior in good academic standing. Minimum GPA of 3.0 preferred.
Eligibility:
Must be a currently enrolled student Available to work 40 hours a week, M-F (8a-5p) beginning in January through June Must be familiar with the university's requirements to participate in a co-op program Entegris is not currently hiring candidates for co-ops/internships who will need, now or at any time in the future, Entegris sponsorship through the H1-B lottery.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to perform work in a manufacturing environment, including walking, standing, and occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds.
