Applications Engineer-Chemicals/Minerals

Hosokawa provides size reduction systems and powder processing solutions for chemical, pharmaceutical, food, mineral, plastics, and cosmetic applications. Throughout our history, we have led the industry in coarse to ultra-fine grinding, classification, mixing, drying, containment, compaction, and analytical equipment.

The Application Engineer supports equipment sales and process design across various industry sectors. This role is responsible for supporting the sale of Hosokawa equipment for Size Reduction, Classification, Mixing, Drying, Compaction, and Agglomeration processes. The position reviews customer applications to determine appropriate equipment selection and process design, prepares technical and commercial solutions in the form of quotations, and coordinates customer test trials to validate equipment performance and ensure customer satisfaction.

Essential Duties:

• Identify and qualify sales leads through calls, emails, meetings, and trade shows.
• Review customer specifications and recommend appropriate equipment and process solutions.
• Prepare quotations, proposals, and cost estimates using Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Coordinate customer trials and testing activities domestically and internationally.
• Maintain CRM records, run sales reports, and analyze market trends.
• Support marketing with sales materials, exhibitions, and promotional activities.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Process Engineering.
• 1+ year of experience working with or selling industrial or process equipment.
• Experience to communicate technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience to develop and present solutions to complex issues in a team environment.
• Experience to collaborate with cross-functional teams to exchange technical information.
• Basic understanding of Microsoft Office Suite- Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's degree in chemical, Mechanical, or Process Engineering.
• 3+ years of experience in process equipment sales or applications engineering.
• 1+yrs. of experience with a CRM system.
• Familiarity with powder processing, containment, or similar systems.
• Ability to interpret P&IDs and understand containment or process safety concepts.

Physical Requirements:

• Domestic and international travel (10%-30%).
• Ability to sit, stand, walk, and occasionally move to 25 lbs.

Salary/Rate Range:

$68,334 - $116,133

Salaries/Rates will vary and may be above or below this rate commensurate with several factors including experience, education, training, location, and merit.
