Executive Recruiter

Los Angeles Area

Internet Brands (WebMD's Parent Co.) is looking for an experienced Executive Recruiter to join our in-house Executive Recruiting team. This role partners directly with our CEO, senior leadership and business executives to identify and recruit high-impact VP-level and above talent across our portfolio of businesses.

The position can be structured as either a full-time role or contract engagement. While the role can be remote, candidates should be based in the greater Los Angeles area and available to come into our Los Angeles office periodically as needed.

This is not a traditional requisition-driven recruiting role. Many of our executive searches start with a business need or concept rather than a fully developed job description. You need to be comfortable taking an idea, understanding what the business is trying to accomplish, helping shape the talent profile, identifying the right target market and then finding the executives who can deliver.

Our businesses span a wide range of industries and functions, including technology, digital media, healthcare/pharma, legal, sales, marketing, product, finance and operations. Because of that, we are open to executive recruiters from a variety of backgrounds. What matters most is a demonstrated ability to find and engage exceptional senior-level talent and the versatility to move successfully between very different types of searches.

What You'll Do
  • Partner directly with our CEO, senior executives and business leaders to understand organizational needs and define executive talent requirements.

  • Lead full-cycle searches focused primarily on VP-level and above talent.

  • Take loosely defined business needs and translate them into actionable search strategies and target profiles.

  • Conduct market mapping and competitive research to identify where the best talent sits.

  • Proactively identify, source and engage senior executives, including passive candidates who are not actively looking.

  • Build relationships and pipelines of executive talent for both current and future leadership needs.

  • Assess candidates for leadership capability, functional expertise, track record, business impact and fit with the organization.

  • Provide senior leadership with insight into the external talent market, competitive landscape and availability of talent.

  • Manage executive candidates throughout the process, from initial outreach and assessment through interviews, offer and close.

  • Deliver a highly professional, responsive and confidential candidate experience.

  • Manage multiple executive searches simultaneously while priorities and business needs continue to evolve.

What We're Looking For
  • Significant experience recruiting VP-level, executive and senior leadership talent.

  • Background in in-house executive recruiting, retained executive search, or a combination of both.

  • Demonstrated success identifying and engaging difficult-to-reach passive executive talent.

  • Advanced sourcing, networking, research and talent-mapping skills.

  • Ability to build a search strategy when there isn't a traditional job description or obvious candidate profile.

  • Strong executive presence and the ability to work credibly and effectively with CEOs and senior business leaders.

  • Intellectual curiosity and the ability to quickly understand unfamiliar businesses, industries and functions.

  • Comfortable moving between very different searches and talent markets.

  • Resourceful, entrepreneurial and willing to dig deeply to find the right candidate rather than simply relying on inbound applicants or traditional sourcing channels.

  • Excellent judgment, professionalism and discretion when handling confidential searches.

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

  • Ability to operate independently and successfully in a fast-moving, evolving environment where priorities can change quickly.

This is an opportunity to work on highly visible leadership searches across a diverse portfolio of businesses and partner directly with the executives making critical decisions about the future of those organizations.
