What to Expect

Consider before submitting an application:

This position is expected to start January 2027 and continue through the entire Winter/Spring term (i.e through April/May 2026) or into Summer 2027 ifavailable. We ask for a minimum of 12 weeks,full-time (40 hours/week) and on-site,for most internships.

International Students: If your work authorization is through CPT, please consult your schoolbeforeapplying. You must be able to work 40 hours per week. Many students will be limited to part-time during the academic year.

The Tesla Energy Products team is bringing battery and solar technology to the grid to facilitate a renewable energy ecosystem and redefine the way the world will use energy in the future. As part of theThermal systemteam, you are the thermal systemmodelingintern that supports efforts on reaching optimal performance ofvapor compression cyclethat make Tesla Energy products like Megapack, Supercharger and Powerwall world class. This role requires the ability to apply engineering fundamentals tomodelingof thermal systems that are at the core of Tesla's success.

What You'll Do
  • Assist developmentof vapor compression cycle modeling
  • Identify potential of refrigerant system cooling capability/ efficiencyacross various applications
  • Build a platform of modular compression cycle for mechanical design fast iteration

What You'll Bring
  • Currently pursuing a Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field
  • Good understanding of Thermodynamics, Heat Transfer, andVapor Compression Cycle
  • Familiarity with compressor, refrigerant, and heat exchanger modeling
  • Experience withPython orMatlab

    Expected Compensation
    $20.00 - $50.00 + benefits

    Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
