Salary/Pay Range: $ 40.00 - $45.00 hourly. Compensation will be commensurate upon experience and qualifications. This position is Non-Exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) overtime provisions.

Because this appointment is temporary, you will not be eligible to receive all of the benefits normally provided to members of the university staff under the standard University of Colorado benefits programs. You are not eligible to receive paid vacation leave, medical, or retirement benefits. However, you are eligible to accrue sick leave and you will accrue 0.034 hours of sick leave per hour worked.

Summary

Under the general guidance and supervision of the Assistant Athletic Director for Athletic Medicine, Director of Athletics, and Team Physicians, the Assistant Athletic Trainer supports comprehensive athletic medicine services through injury care, medical coordination,recordkeeping, and daily clinic operations while contributing to athlete wellbeing and performance outcomes across intercollegiate programs. This position is temporary and expected to last no more than 9 months.

Essential Functions

The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

• 55% Manage all aspects of prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries for approximately 370 student-athletes at UCCS and on the road.

• 25% Maintain updated files and accurate medical records of the following: athletic injuries,medical insurance, medical history, injury referrals, conditioning programs, schedules, and other necessary data.

• 10% Maintain regular clear communication between athletic medicine staff, coaches, student athletes, and other UCCS employees as needed to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the student athletes.

• 5% Coordinate clinical and physician appointments between the athlete and UCHealth or outside referral.

• 5% Performs other duties as assigned.

• Undergraduate degree in athletic training, physical education, kinesiology, or related field of study or combination of education and experience, which provides the required knowledge and abilities to be an athletic trainer is required.

• A master's degree in related field is preferred.

• Current Board of Certification (BOC) certification for Athletic Trainer, Colorado State athletic training licensure and CPR/AED is required.

• Current unrestricted license with the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) is required.

• Adherence to the National Athletic Trainers' Association Code of Ethics is mandatory.

• Experience in medical documentation standards and electronic health record systems, with the ability to maintain accurate, confidential records and efficiently track athlete health information, insurance details, and care plans in compliance with regulatory and organizational requirements is required.

• Experience with athletic injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation techniques, with the ability to make sound clinical judgments and develop effective, individualized recovery programs that support safe return-to-play outcomes is required.
