Linen Distributor

Clean linen is fundamental to a safe, organized, and patient-ready healthcare environment. As a Linen Distributor with UVA Health, you will provide the essential behind-the-scenes support that helps hospital teams remain prepared to care for patients every day.

This onsite opportunity is an excellent entry point for someone beginning a career, returning to the workforce, or transitioning into healthcare operations. No previous healthcare experience is necessary, and the role offers practical experience in sanitation practices, inventory management, service, teamwork, and hospital operations.

The Role

As a Linen Distributor, you will help ensure that departments throughout the medical center have timely access to clean linen and related supplies. You will work in a fast-paced hospital environment where accuracy, dependability, flexibility, and responsive service directly support caregivers and the patients they serve.

An average day may include:

• Collecting, laundering, sorting, stocking, and distributing linen throughout the medical center

• Monitoring linen supplies and helping maintain appropriate inventory levels in assigned areas

• Responding to department needs with a strong focus on timely, courteous customer service

• Following established sanitation, handling, and workplace safety practices

• Keeping linen storage and distribution areas clean, organized, and ready for use

• Collaborating with Linen Distribution Services colleagues and hospital departments to maintain reliable service

• Organizing daily tasks and adjusting priorities as operational needs change

• Recognizing and communicating supply or service concerns that could affect hospital operations

Although this is not a direct patient care position, your work has a meaningful connection to every patient care area you support. Success requires someone who takes pride in completing important tasks, works effectively as part of a team, and understands that consistent linen service contributes to a clean and prepared care environment.

Candidates with experience in custodial services, housekeeping, environmental services, hospitality, warehousing, inventory, distribution, or a similar setting may find their skills transfer naturally to this opportunity. Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping/traveling, climbing (ladder, steps) and reaching (overhead, extensive, repetitive. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 50-100 lbs. May be exposed to, cold and heat.
