Lecturer I or II in Trades at UNM-Valencia

The Business & Industrial
Technologies Division at UNM-Valencia Campus is accepting applications for a
Lecturer I or II in the Trades, to include but not limited to welding,
construction, plumbing, HVACR and electrical. This posting is for a full-time,
9-month, non-tenure-track faculty position. The position begins January 11,
2027.

Located about 30 miles south of
Albuquerque in rural Valencia County, the University of New Mexico-Valencia
Campus is a two-year branch community college associated with the University of
New Mexico. With an emphasis on teaching excellence, Valencia Campus offers
vocational and technical courses as well as academic transfer courses to the
citizens of Valencia and northern Socorro counties. The faculty and staff serve
a student body of approximately 2,000 each semester.

Salary: Base salary for this nine-month faculty position is
$63,000. Summer teaching may be available
based on program needs, with additional compensation. Office space, computer
hardware and software will be provided, as well as an excellent package of
benefits.

Summary of
duties and responsibilities: Duties include providing classroom and hands-on laboratory
instruction in trades-related courses offered through the Business &
Industrial Technologies Division. This includes but is not limited to preparing
course materials, supervising laboratory activities, maintaining a safe and
organized learning environment, assessing student performance, and maintaining
attendance, scholastic, and student records. Responsibilities also include
posting and maintaining office hours, participating in curriculum development
and outcomes assessment, professional development related to the teaching
field, college committees, departmental projects, community and industry
partnerships, and other duties as assigned. The position may include daytime
and/or evening instruction at UNM-Valencia facilities and partner locations.

If selected for an on-campus
interview, applicants may be asked to provide a teaching demonstration related
to their trade area and documentation of professional experience, licenses,
certifications, or credentials.

We will offer reimbursement for travel expenses to all candidates who
are invited to UNM Valencia campus, who accept the offer of an interview, and
who must incur long-distance travel expenses. The reimbursement for travel will
follow UNM policy and will be no more than $1,000.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Degree in a career field or industry credentials in a career technical field or ten years of tested experience in an industry or technical field (as per Higher Learning Commission tested experience guidelines)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Associate or bachelor's degree in a career technical field
• Teaching experience in a career technical field
• Experience working with business and industry partners
• Experience across multiple trade areas or ability to teach more than one program area.
• A demonstrated commitment to cultivate an understanding of the rich and varied cultures of New Mexico and to the success of the university's mission to serve local and global communities.
