Position Summary
The Division of Cardiology in the Department of Medicine seeks an accomplished physician leader in Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology to serve as System Executive Director of the Advanced Heart Failure & Transplant Network for UNC Health. This position will provide strategic leadership for the continued growth, integration, and advancement of a comprehensive statewide network for advanced heart failure, mechanical circulatory support, cardiogenic shock, and heart transplantation.

Working collaboratively with physicians, administrators, surgeons, researchers, and clinical teams across UNC Health, the Executive Director will lead efforts to develop and implement a shared vision for network growth, clinical excellence, quality improvement, innovation, and patient access. The individual will be responsible for fostering alignment across academic and community-based programs, strengthening referral pathways, expanding access to advanced heart failure therapies, and advancing the system's mission in patient care, research, and education.

This recruitment is for an Open Rank faculty position within the Division of Cardiology, with rank to be determined based on the selected candidate's qualifications, experience, and accomplishments. The successful candidate will hold a primary faculty appointment in the Department of Medicine and a secondary administrative leadership appointment as System Executive Director of the Advanced Heart Failure & Transplant Network, which includes an associated administrative supplement. Clinical responsibilities will include the care of patients with advanced heart failure, heart transplantation, mechanical circulatory support, and cardiogenic shock, while supporting the academic missions of research, education, and service.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
MD required.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
* Board Certified in Cardiovascular Disease
* Advanced training and expertise in Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology
* Demonstrated leadership experience within a major Advanced Heart Failure, LVAD, and/or Heart Transplant program
* Experience working across multidisciplinary clinical teams
* Strong interest in system development, physician engagement, and network growth
* Academic accomplishments consistent with appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor level preferred
* Proven track record in clinical research and program development preferred
