Job Summary:

The Manager, Affordability and Access Programs supports the strategy, operations, and communications of Supernus' patient affordability and access programs. This role executes and optimizes affordability solutions to remove financial and logistical barriers to therapy.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

The Manager of Affordability and Access Programs focuses on the patient and provider experience, program performance, and cross-functional alignment within a market access context. This role involves understanding payer and reimbursement dynamics, designing and overseeing program operations and vendor relationships, monitoring performance through data and KPIs, and communicating program value to internal and external stakeholders to support patient access and business goals.



  • Program Strategy & Design

    • Coordinate the design, operation, and continuous improvement of copay assistance programs across the Supernus portfolio, coordinating with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure program structures align with brand strategy and regulatory requirements.
    • Lead the continued evolution of access and affordability strategies based upon changes within the market landscape that impact the patients we support.
    • Manage the program lifecycle from design through launch, including eligibility criteria, benefit design, funding structure, and claims adjudication logic.
    • Drive exceptional patient experience through the development of innovative and impactful initiatives that align to our Market Access goals.


  • Industry Monitoring

    • Track payer and PBM trends affecting copay support programs, including copay accumulator and maximizer adjustment programs, and translate emerging risks into program design recommendations.
    • Benchmark competitors' affordability offerings and payer policy shifts to keep Supernus programs compliant and competitive.


  • Access Program Management

    • Manage electronic prior authorization and access solutions (e.g., CoverMyMeds) and direct-to-consumer access tools, ensuring seamless integration with HCP and patient workflows to reduce time-to-therapy.
    • Monitor program performance metrics (enrollment, approval rates, time-to-fill, patient discontinuation due to affordability) and drive corrective action where performance lags.


  • Marketing & Sales Coordination

    • Partner with Marketing and Sales to develop and maintain legal and regulatory-approved promotional and educational materials on affordability and access programs for HCPs and patients.
    • Ensure sales teams are equipped with current, accurate program materials and messaging through training support and resource updates.


  • Vendor Management

    • Serve as primary point of contact for all copay hub and access program vendors, managing contracts, SOPs, performance expectations, and issue escalation/resolution.
    • Conduct regular vendor business reviews to ensure service level agreements, billing accuracy, and program reliability.


  • Stakeholder Communication

    • Deliver concise, actionable updates and program performance summaries to Market Access and commercial leadership, including recommendations grounded in data and industry context.
    • Build scorecards/dashboards that translate operational and financial program data into leadership-ready insights.

Knowledge & Other Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's Degree, and a minimum of 5+ years' experience in the pharmaceutical industry with expertise in patient support programs and market access required.
  • Knowledge and experience in finance, sales, marketing, or related commercial functions in the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry is highly preferred.
  • Excellent leadership, management, organizational skills, along with problem solving, conflict resolution and team building.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively plan, prioritize, execute, follow-up, and manage multiple projects in fast-paced, deadline driven environment.
  • Polished written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distill complex program data into clear, executive-ready presentations.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint, including building dynamic models and visually compelling leadership decks.
  • Strong financial and analytical acumen, with demonstrated ability to build, interpret, and clearly explain financial models to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment/Travel Requirements:



  • Walking: Intermittent walking and moving from location to location.
  • Visual Acuity: to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer screen, iPad, or other electronic device and for operating motor vehicles.
  • Travel: Must be willing and able to travel as needed.
  • Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately.


Compensation:

At Supernus, we offer a competitive compensation package that reflects your experiences and contributions. The expected salary range for fully qualified candidates applying for this role is $110,000 to $140,000. This range is what the Company reasonably expects to offer for the position and is not reflective of the full compensation scale of the role. This range may be modified in the future. An individual's salary within the range is based on multiple factors, which may include and are not limited to education, relevant experience, knowledge, length of industry experience and organizational needs.

Base salary is one part of the overall compensation package, which includes the opportunity to participate in employee stock purchase programs and performance-based bonus programs.
