Northwest Research & Outreach Center Position Overview Key Responsibilities: * (10%) Develop a better understanding of how ripe wheat seed absorbs water under controlled temperatures and relative humidity levels. * (10%) Measure the presence of GA and alpha-amylases over time in partially and completely imbibed harvest-ripe wheat at different controlled temperature and relative humidity regimes. * (20%) Develop and validate a protocol to screen genetic differences among HRSW varieties in PHS tolerance under a controlled optimum temperature and relative humidity regime. * (20%) Develop and validate a protocol to predict the risk of PHS under field conditions. * (40%) Publish findings in relevant scientific journals and develop best management practices to avoid quality losses due to PHS.
