The Director, Portfolio Management & Project Delivery is responsible for leading Inotiv's technology project portfolio, project delivery capabilities, organizational change management practices, and strategic technology programs. This role ensures technology investments are prioritized, governed, and delivered in alignment with business objectives while maximizing value realization and organizational capacity.
This is a player-coach leadership role, balancing approximately 50% people leadership and operational oversight with 50% direct ownership of strategic technology programs and business initiatives. The Director leads a team of project and portfolio management professionals while personally serving as Program Manager for the organization's most critical cross-functional technology and business transformation initiatives, including ERP Optimization and other enterprise strategic priorities.
The Director is accountable for the successful delivery of both technology programs and projects across the IT portfolio, while also providing program management leadership for selected strategic business initiatives that require enterprise-wide coordination, governance, and change management. This role serves as a key partner to business and IT leaders, providing governance, visibility, and leadership to ensure successful execution and realization of business outcomes. Additionally, the Director is responsible for building organizational project delivery capabilities, maturing portfolio management practices, and developing a high-performing team.
Key Accountabilities Team Management
- Recruit, develop, and retain high-performing talent.
- Develop and execute onboarding plans for new team members.
- Build a culture of collaboration, accountability, continuous improvement, and service excellence.
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and development opportunities to help team members reach their full potential.
- Establish clear goals, priorities, and performance expectations.
- Manage team capacity and workload to optimize project delivery and portfolio management activities.

Program Management Leadership
- Serve as Program Manager for strategic, enterprise-wide technology and business transformation initiatives, including the ERP Optimization Program.
- Develop and manage integrated program plans, roadmaps, milestones, dependencies, budgets, resource plans, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Establish program governance structures, steering committees, decision-making forums, and executive reporting processes.
- Ensure alignment between program objectives, business priorities, organizational readiness, and expected business outcomes.
- Drive resolution of program issues, risks, resource conflicts, and cross-functional dependencies.
- Partner with executive sponsors and business leaders to define success metrics, measure progress, and oversee benefits realization.
- Lead program communications and stakeholder engagement activities to ensure transparency, alignment, and end user adoption.
- Ensure programs are delivered on time, within budget, and aligned to approved scope and strategic objectives.
- Serve as the escalation point for major project and program issues requiring executive intervention or decision-making.
Project Delivery Excellence, Methodology, and Governance
- Own the IT portfolio governance framework, including project intake, prioritization, approval, and investment decision processes.
- Lead governance forums to align technology investments, resource capacity, and business priorities.
- Provide oversight for successful delivery of the IT project portfolio, ensuring adherence to governance standards and delivery methodologies.
- Establish and continuously improve project, portfolio, and change management processes, standards, tools, and best practices.
- Drive accountability for scope, schedule, budget, quality, risk management, and business outcomes.
- Develop and maintain portfolio roadmaps aligned with business and technology strategies.
- Foster a culture of execution excellence, accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement.
Resource & Capacity Management
- Establish and drive enterprise IT resource planning and capacity management processes.
- Partner with IT leaders to forecast resource needs and identify potential delivery constraints.
- Provide visibility into organizational capacity, demand forecasts, staffing requirements, and project investment trade-offs.
Financial Management & Benefits Realization
- Oversee portfolio-level financial management, including project budgets and forecasts.
- Establish and maintain benefits realization processes to measure business outcomes and value delivery.
- Track and report realized value against approved business cases and strategic objectives.
Organizational Change Management
- Establish organizational change management standards and practices for enterprise technology initiatives.
- Ensure stakeholder engagement, communications, training, adoption, and business readiness activities are embedded within programs and projects as applicable.
- Lead efforts to improve user adoption and value realization for technology and business transformations.
- Partner with business leaders to support successful organizational transitions and sustained outcomes.
- Drive change management maturity and capability development across IT and the business.
Portfolio Reporting
- Develop dashboards, portfolio reporting, and performance metrics.
- Provide regular updates to leadership regarding project health, resource allocation, financial performance, risks, and business outcomes.
- Establish key performance indicators to measure portfolio effectiveness, delivery performance, and value realization.

Minimum Requirements Education
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business, Engineering, Finance, or a related field required.
Experience
- 10+ years of progressive experience in project management, program management, portfolio management, PMO leadership, or IT transformation leadership.
- Proven success leading enterprise-scale technology and business transformation initiatives.
- Experience managing enterprise project portfolios, governance processes, and investment prioritization.
- Experience leading ERP implementations, ERP optimization initiatives, or large-scale enterprise technology programs.
- Experience with project financial management, benefits realization, capacity planning, and organizational change management.
- Experience implementing and improving project management methodologies, governance frameworks, and delivery tools.
