| Position Summary |
The University of Georgia Enterprise Information Technology Services (
EITS) is seeking qualified junior-level candidates for a Network Administrator position in Network Engineering. This position will work as part of a team responsible for the delivery and support of mission critical advanced network technologies in a large local (Athens) and extended campuses network across the state.

| Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies |
- Knowledge of configuring networking equipment (switches, routers)
- Knowledge of SNMP network monitoring tools
- Knowledge of Ethernet and IP networking (TCP and UDP)
- Familiarity with LAN/WAN L2/L3 protocols
- Knowledge of wireless networking including controller-based lightweight architectures
- Familiarity with firewalls and VPNs
- Knowledge of DHCP, IPAM, and DNS
- Knowledge of writing technical documentation

Lift and install chassis based network equipment. Move from one office to another office on campus. Adequate vision, hearing, and manual dexterity to connect network cabling (including fiber optics). Job takes place in cooled office environment and in a typical cooled data center environment. Driving to perform job related tasks. |

Network Core Operations and Management (LAN, WAN, and Wireless)
- Plan, implement, and manage the enterprise core, wireless, and data center networks.
- Provides support for LAN, WAN, and wireless network services
- Plan, implement, and manage switch/router management applications, monitoring, and configuration backup.
- Maintain a broad knowledge of operations & objectives across EITS and the University in general as required to effectively provide services
- Work with other units to maintain and enhance existing services and works to assist in the development and deployment of new services consistent with the EITS Strategic Plan including DNS, DHCP, AAA Remote Access (VPN), and Monitoring applications
- Work with vendors as needed to maintain and deploy services

IP and name space management:
- Assist with management of enterprise DHCP/DNS/IPAM system (BlueCat Proteus/Adonis,)
- Assigns IP address and scopes to clients
- Follows internal process to document and manage IP assignment
- Configures routers to facilitate IP assignment
- Works with clients to determine need and optimization of IP space

Network Fault Management - Including routing, switching, video conferencing, load balancing, and all other network related problems
- Assist with determining appropriate actions needed to restore normal services with minimal down time.
- Assist with investigating recurring and related operating system failures /inefficiencies by reviewing system logs, dumps and other information from clients or technical personnel
- Works with staff in Information Security to supplement incident response and crisis management needs
- Shares responsibility for routine and emergency system maintenance on a 24O7 basis
